Hello, I'm new to PSP homebrew. I have a question and I really need some help. Here's what happened... I borrowed a PSP from a friend, it has I think a 5.50 CFW. We tried playing a game but it won't work. I suggested that we update the firmware to the latest 6.60 OFW then install 6.60PRO-B9 over it. As we were updating to 6.60, it stopped at like 80% and said "Update Failed". We rebooted and checked the system info and it said Version 6.60 installed already. The problem is we can't update it to 6.60PRO-B9 or anything else, it just turns off automatically once we start updating. I tried to re-install 6.60 OFW but it keeps on saying "6.60 already installed" then exits. I tried to downgrade it too but same thing happens when we start doing it, it just turns off and do nothing. I think it has something to do with the update stopping at like 80%. I did some more research but can't seem to find any info about "forced OFW re-installation". I'm stuck now! Can anyone please help me?

Oh, we have a PSP-2000 I think with 02g something...

I think its stuck in the update loop. If you have a pandora's battery you may be able to recover it from the situation that you are currently in

    Hello TitanTX,

Thanks for the reply. I don't even know what a Pandora's Battery is, so I may not have that. Is there any other way not involving an item I might buy? Kinda strapped for cash right now.

Ok what firmware is your system on. If its on 6.60 then try using a downgrader known as chronoswitch. That has the ability to downgrade your system. That may fix your problem.

Thank you! I will try that tonight. And yes, I am on a "failed" OFW 6.60 version

Tried chronoswitch and I managed to install the lower OFW 6.20 but same thing happens, at like 80 or 90%, the installation fails and stops. I gave up and just installed a "failed" 6.60 again. At least I can log-in to the PSN Store with that. Thanks big time for the help!

By chance where did you get that update file from, was it from Sony's official site. And was it specifically for your model of PSP. As they have different update versions one for the GO and the other for 1K,2K, and 3K. Chances are you may have gotten the wrong update file, that's whats causing the error.

Yes, I got it from Sony's official site and I got the one for the 2K. I double-checked and it was the correct one.

I wrote down the error when it fails, it's the "LPTFFFFFFFE" error. Did some googling and it looks like I'm not the only one getting that error. Seems like many of them can't find any solution either.

    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred

Reformatted the MC and it didn't find any problems or bad sectors. I actually have two 8 GB cards and both were clear of bad sectors.

I do think it's a hardware problem based on what I've read online. Some PSPs do have it.
