I'm going to install fmbc onto my memory card and am wondering which of the many methods of installation would be best for me, being unfamiliar with most of them and having bought none of the gadgets any require.

Not an easy question to answer, as it really is up to you on what is the best option to use.
Its like asking what is the best way to get from point A to point B; swim, fly, walk, run, ride a bike or be carried by horse.

But to make it easy, the "best" method and easiest would be to ask a Volunteer, pay for the cost of postage both ways and you'll have FMCB running on your console in about a week later.

Easiest way for me was using

    Swap Magic DVD + FreeMcBoot_DVD5_Install_Boot_Disc.iso

What is that? Never heard of it. You can simply use a CD and SwapMagic CD too, theres a guide in the Official Guides to do that.

as JNABK said why spend $30 on a swap method you only need to use once when for around $5 you can send your card to one of us installers? cant get any easier than that or cheaper!!

Well, apparently they are really picky about the package you send it in and other such crap, and I don't normally like to entrust my equipment to people with OCD handicaps.

Swap Magic is that little flip-top hard mod, right? Do I actually need the flip-top, or will just the DVD suffice?

    *edit*

After searching Swap Magic's site, I was unable to confirm compatibility with my model of PS2 (SCPH-75001). Is this really the case?

Well I think that's pretty shitty on your part, to say something like that..

OCD, about the ****ing packaging? It's for your benefit, so the MC doesn't get damaged...

I really don't know why I'm going to give you your answer, but yes you need the flip top lid, or you can use a slide tool ( can **** up console ).

And yes you will have to use a SWAP DVD DISK, to swap a DVD game.

And yes SWAP MAGIC is compatible with that model...

Well, you can send it in a plain brown wrapper and hope for the best, that it reaches them undamaged......think thats a better idea then them requesting you attemp to protect your own MC?

Hey, its your choice, you can trust people or try doing it all by yourself......theres well documented methods on the Official FMCB Site. Good luck.
