    Inspired by :
-A new way to install FMCB [Thanks jimmikaelkael]
-New title db maker [Thanks ubergeek42]

For those of you who have a Fat PS2,
you can install Free McBoot with ps3mca-tool and one original ps1 game.
(like If original "A new way to install FMCB" didn't work for you, this was my case)

    Advantages of this method:
    * Need only one original PS1 game. (No more backup disc swap needed)
    * Only one directory created and only 1 file copied to memory card. (Maybe Except NTSC-J - but i can't test)
    * Direct FCMB install menu from boot - no ulaunchelf menu. (Because it's BOOT ELF on usb key that is launched)

PAL only Tested - Further tests needed for other regions...

Of course i haven't made thousands tests myself so feedback appreciated !

The program : www mediafire com/?ifagw9q97f7dh2u
    [replace spaces by dots]
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a part of the readme first:

    SAFETY FIRST :

<<<<< WARNING - These tools format the memory cards first >>>>>>>>>>
<<<<<<<<<<< SAVE the content before use >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    What is this?
-For PS2 - SAVEGAME PS1 EXPLOIT INSTALL, Aka CogSWAP loading.
But Here no need of making backup disc.... only one original PS1 game is needed.

    ---------------------- MAKING TITLE DB ------------------------------
you just have to put your own TITLE DB according your PS1 orginal disc of course.

Use program in "titledbmaker exe" to generate TITLE DB and
then the program started in boot will be mass:/BOOT ELF
(Thanks to ubergeek42 for this program !)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Put the content in "Noobie_Package" on usb drive root.
(Or another FMCB pack but rename "install elf" to BOOT ELF)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Then uses PlayStation3 Memory Card Adaptor (CECHZM1) to create the PS2 savegame memory card.
Put PS2 memory card in "CECHZM1" device, plug this device in your usb PC plug and then launch one of the three files according your region:

Mc format & install NTSCJ bat
    << OR >>
Mc format & install NTSCU bat
    << OR >>
Mc format & install PAL bat
    << OR >>

When finished, open PS2 CD tray, put original PS1 disc in, put 8mb Memory card in slot 1 and USB Key has to be in the PS2 usb plug...

Close the CD tray, hit reset/power and that normally launch BOOT ELF:

    FreeMcBoot installer starts
Select and do format the memory card
    Select and do needed install

    Wait till said finished.

    -That's all-

Remove USB key and Ps1 game CD, let memory card in slot 1,

Shutdown PS2, PowerOn then new lines appears in navigation screen: uLaunchelf...
Now you can start homebrew programs from USB or memory card.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Now you have Free Memory Card Boot <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

What is the point of using this method ?
If you can simply copy and sign the FMCB executable to the memory card without even touching the PS2 and there's absolutely no need of using a PS1 disc ? O_O

    Hello,

Yes i know that it seems.. useless at first sight.. But, as i explained, the original way ("A new way to install FMCB") didn't work for me... [still don't know why!]

So i had to make it another way...

Here, there are less directories/files to copy/create on memory card.
(no need of sign the kelf for memory card, etc...)

When PS2 boot, that's start automatically to FMCB the installation screen. (mass:BOOT ELF)

In the package it's the "Noobie_Package" but you can replace by another... (by the interesting "Unofficial FMCB v1.8C installer" for example)

It's another way to achieve the same task : put fmcb on memory card. No more/ no less!

Of course if original way has already worked for you, you don't need this one, i do agree with you !

(Or just download to see what is modifed from original files)

You can also use it to do something else : Launch another program (renamed BOOT ELF on USB ROOT device )
