Ok i have version 1.3d installed right now and i want to update to the newer version, but when i try to i think it would freeze on decrypting dvdelf since its taking so long? is there any other ways besides using ulaunchelf as the boot.elf on the mc

When ware the compatibility issues fixed? I've read all the changelogs, but there was nothing about compatibility.

Is it an improvement made by runme.elf 1.1a or is a fix from freemcboot itself?

Till now I've not seen any issues, with the newest Testversion of FMCB 1.4.
Does any HB-App not work for you? @suloku?

P.S.: 1.4 does not have any Runme.elf, anymore.

I was referring to the code of runme 1.1a being on freemcboot since 1.3 release.

I know all apps I use work, but I also knew there were compatibility issues and wondering if they were fixed, I don't currently know or rember any application that was giving problems on the first releases, and as I said I saw anything about this being fixed.

Now that I think, swap apps didn't work, do they work now? (anyway it can be done within ule).

This and unability to launch ps2browser was what keeped me from using freemcboot, but I think it's time to update, as ESR may be out in a week or so and launching ps2 discs will be easie, just swap (if needed ) in ule, launch app.

Most compatibility-issues are fixed and if there are any, they will be...
Swap-ELFs work, but you still need an original disc, to get a valid TOC, to fool ps2, with the swap-trick.

    Wait for the next release.
It holds some very cool new features (a.k.a Fastboot).
It directly starts the game (if Option is on and a disc in drive).
Else it'll load directly to OSDSYS|PS2Browser.

as ESR may be out in a week or so
    how can you tell?

It holds some very cool new features (a.k.a Fastboot).
do you mean fast booting game disks? or quicker startup procedure?

with 75kb dvdplayer elf it takes ~10 seconds now on my v11. i think it's ~5 seconds less compared to fmb 1.0/1.1 (but that's subjective, i didn't actually measure it with a watch in hand).

Fastbooting games from disc, yes (took around 5 Seconds, with Debug-Screen).
If a Disc is present and the value of "AutoBoot_Disc"-Entry is set to "1", it'll run the disc.
If you press a button, it starts the application, mapped to this (before it tries Fastboot).

If you don't press a button, no disc is in drive and/or the "AutoBoot_Disc"-Feature is disabled, it boots to PS2OSD using Nemes method.

    I hope Jimmi add this:

"BootOSD"-Entry for selecting, what should be done, after Button-Launch and Fastboot fails. If it is set to "1", it runs PS2Browser, after that, else it run Auto-Boot-ELF.
"SkipHD"-Entry (for skipping the HD-Check of OSDSYS) in CNF (to turn feature on, or off. People, without an official Sony-HD, can disable the check, and the people with, can leave that option on.)

Both simply with the values 1/0, for on/off.

I'm against freemcboot having a cnf config file, but if so many new features are added it may be needed, I like the idea of having ps2browser on it with the option of skip hdd.

Well, a secondary elf file to configure the cnf may eventually come out, so this may be a secondary issue.

Which I don't like about this is it getting bigger in size, the disk booting is useless from my point of view as ESR will substitute it when out.

@Suloku: Yes, but if you like it and don't need the embedded features, you could also use the standard-loader, you could embed any HB and expand the features using the ELFs, "swirling" around here in the forums.

I like it to use Buttonstart, without a GUI.
PS2-Linux-RTE makes problems to me, if I start it through uLE (the first time, because of the V-Mode).
(Couldn't return to real PAL, if I load the RTE through uLE. Just a very big and stretched screen, even if I hold the right buttons on startup).

Why don't you like the cnf?
If there is no CNF, it'll boot in standart-mode.
Is it because of some incompatibilities, that may come? No worries.
Also The new loader still matches to 75KB-DVDPLx, so MC-Size isn't affected by this new features.

ffriever said, that there will be 2ELFs.
1 with a GUI, to choose witch ELF should start with ESR (...).
1 like the loader, embedded to OSDMAIN.ELF.
I couldn't see the sentence, where he said, that it has an Fastboot-Feature (If so, please point me on this.)

THX for reading and regards TnA
