Here is my feedback - this unofficial version rocks!

I was not able to install official 1.8b no matter what on V9 with Ripper 3.2 (it was just not possible - always crashed when trying to install - on "loading" screen, tried everyting) and I was just about to make a "help" topic on this forum but I just found this unofficial version and tried now - result is that it installed smoothly!

After installing this unofficial version, freemcbooted memory card (orignal Sony) went to be used with newer, 100% virgin, PS2 slim version. All works fine.

Just a side note - of course, this succesfully freemcbooted memory card didnt want to run on my old V9 with Ripper 3.2 - as I mentioned it didnt want to install official mcboot before and now doesnt want to run after succesfully installing unoffical version. I am starting to think Ripper 3.2 is interrfering somehow, but it really doesnt matter as I needed only to mod newer slim version with which it works.

Thanks to a person who made it as it was just not possible to install official on my V9.

yes some mod chips do interfere with FMCB . if you can turn the chip off at boot then FMCB will be fine... depending on the chip there are different requirements for holding down buttons while booting...you will have to google for the right sequence for your chip.

spud42 is right: It's most likely your chip causing the weird issues. Normally, a console should be able to run all well-coded programs.

Just a gentle reminder: I did not code FMCB v1.8C. 'Unofficial' in this thread's title refers to the origin of the installer, not FMCB v1.8C. FMCB v1.8C is an official build.

Hey spud42 and SP193 I just checked V9 with Ripper 3.2 turned off [if someone is interested - to turn off this modchip you need to push start button (and hold it) and turn on console]. The result is that freemcboot started with no problems. It only means for certain now that Ripper 3.2 was a problem

What is still worth mentioning is that 'unofficial' version allowed me to install freemcboot in spite of problematic modchip

Use what? How to install? You need to be more precise in your question then people can help you out

If you are asking how to install freemcboot, then google "freemcboot info noobie". First link will give you instructions.

    Hope this helps you.

    1. Happy New Year to all PSX members and readers ...

    I have a little (i think) problem,

installed the free-mcboot (noobie package and the 1.8c version) but the PS2 will not boot it at start (tryed with and without chip modbo 4.0)

when i start ulaunch from cd/dvd and go to configurator then press reboot into free mcboot the system goes into its menu, but when i restart the free mcboot logo does not appear and it will not start (tryed with pressed L1,L2 etc. for programs to launch)

    Can someone help me out

    thx

What is your Playstation 2 console's model? If it's a SCPH-90000 series model with boot ROM v2.30 and later, it can never boot FMCB at all.

    PS: Happy new year.
