I've scoured the Internet and every result has not helped me at all... I followed the SwapMagic tutorial as per the SKS website but I have to leave the flash drive (with everything PROPERLY INSTALLED) unplugged before booting SM or else I will be sent back to the browser. When my PS2 manages to boot SM and I insert the flash drive, I don't even see the uLaunch screen appear - I just see the SM main screen.

If I leave the drive in and boot up Swap Magic at the same time, I just get a black screen. I have a fat PS2 purchased December 2003, SCPH-39001. I know my flash drive (SanDisk 2 GB, came with my CE of Forza 3 for the 360) works because if I do try to use the SMBoot feature in SM, the LED on the drive will blink as if it was being accessed...

    Most likely reason is this

    Removing/Uninstalling U3 Launchpad on a PC

most usb drivers do not like the U3 software look up your type and make sure to get the right uninstaller

    V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred
Is how all good gaming systems came to be

    I got the FM3 drive in October '09 and I know U3 didn't come with it... this isn't a Cruzer, either, it's just a SanDisk-branded drive.

Just wanted to say, I do have an AR Max EVO with the Max Media Creator but it wouldn't boot on that, either. It came in the tin and I found a link about using a different method with that but lost it...

I hear the tiny 128 MB drive that came with AR works the best but I haven't seen that in a while. Any particular brands to look out for?

I thought SwapMagic would recognize my FD once it was plugged in... does it have to be plugged in BEFORE the disc is booted?

ok, how about a bit more information. exactly how have you set the USB up and how are you using swapmagic? this is usually the easiest way to do any homebrew installs.

It's set up exactly like the tutorial said and I'm trying to use my SwapMagic to boot the installer. I have two issues:

    The tutorial says

You will see Swapmagic's Splash Screen, and then see uLE's main screen.
I can't plug the stick in before the disc boots up or else 1) my PS2 just goes back to the browser without booting Swap Magic up or 2) I will just get a black screen without the disc booting up.

I can plug the stick in AFTER it boots but then I just see the Swap Magic 3 menu, no ULE screen or anything. Can I still boot the installer from my flash drive or does it have to be plugged in before SwapMagic even starts up?

and by boot again or lockup says the USB stick is incompatible on boot up
If I was you and you can not get another USB stick take the link I provided and try to uninstall the U3 again something is still their or never removed to begin with
but easy way try another USB stick
