Trying to game swap with Snake Eater
Trying to game swap with Snake Eater –
I'm trying to use the game swap trick to install free mcboot with an original copy of Snake Eater. I burned the disc, and I've tried to swap on both my slim SCPH-70012 and my fat SCPH-39001. I use the tissue mod for the slim and the slide tool for the fat, and neither work. Whenever I swap the discs, I either get the screen with "Insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 disc" or I get a little icon in the game that flashes between a question mark and a disc, implying that it's looking for the retail Snake Eater disc. I'm not sure how to do it correctly, I've tried swapping at the "Press Start" menu, right after pushing start, on the main menu, and even during the Playstation boot screen. Can anyone help me figure out the problem?
you to block the three sensors ps2 to make the swap?
and followed the instructions correctly freemcboot.info:
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, NETDOWN.ELF [ press start, your now at the main menu, swap disks, select "SPECIAL", now select "CAMOUFLAGE DOWNLOAD" by pressing O button, ulaunchelf will start]
Yeah I have the three sensors blocked. I follow the tutorial to a tee and I can't get ulaunchelf to start. All I ever get is the reading disc icon or the insert a playstation disc screen.
may be that your disc is badly written or you did not modify the copy of the game right.
you must be doing something wrong!
I've done with SOCOM 3 (and look what he's on the list of games that does not work), but worked perfect with me, I recorded it with DVDDecrypter on 4x.
I followed the steps to replace the elf file correctly, and I even tried burning with both a DVD-R and a DVD+R. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, or even if my models are compatible. =/
probably not compatibility problem, because mine is a SCPH-75001. I have done in a SCPH-79001
problematic are the series of SCPH-9000x
take a look :here (PS2 Game Swap Trick - List Submissions), someone made the same game
Sorry, but that didn't really help. I'm willing to bet my burned DVDs aren't cutting it, I've tried a Fujifilm DVD-R and a Maxell DVD+R. I also have a Maxell DVD-R, but I'm not sure it will work. I had ImgBurn set to AWS (Average Write Speed I'm assuming) and I get the same result on both PS2's. Perhaps I should burn at a slower rate?
I recorded millions, all at 4x speed and it works perfect.
I also have MGS snake eater, and I'll even make installation with him, then put the results with my procedures.
soon as I can, I come back, because now I take a shower and dinner
dude, this game was even difficult. But I managed, after losing two DVD
I do not know why, but it did not work with apache v1.1 or Apache v3.0, the game did not work.
here's what I did, a very different method and simple as well:
I put the original game, in tray, and I used the program called UltraIso (which I love)
go to File - Open CD / DVD, I chose the driver with the game.
after the game open in UltraISO, got the uncompressed BOOT.ELF (rename it to NETDOWN.ELF).
dragged him into the right-hand window UltraISO will ask to replace, I put yes.
Now you just go File - Save As, will make their modified copy, then just burn it (I used DVD-R media at 4x recorded with DVDdecrypter)
after all done, I started the game on ps2, press Start, swapped the disks, then go SPECIAL, and then went on CAMOUFLAGE DOWNLOAD.
then the ULE started, (strange that the first attempt, stopped the disc design with a question mark,at the second attempt worked and started ule)
Thanks for trying it out! I already ordered 007 Agent Under Fire, but I will probably give that a shot anyways. If it doesn't work, I can just wait until I get 007. =)
EDIT: I tried out your method using PowerISO and it didn't work. The slim gave me the ? disc icon and the fat just refuses to do the slide tool trick anymore, it constantly gets stuck now...
