So I am going to try to use the swap trick to install FMCB on my PS2 slim memory card with the cd installing method. But, when building the iso, I can't find a way to change the lba of the system.cnf to 12231. Does anyone have a tool to do that or know if I can use a dummy file instead? I would use cdgenps2 but I run Linux and wine doesn't run it properly. So, any help?
EDIT: I just realized I misspelled FMCB as "FMBC". Sorry about that.

Thanks, but I seem to have an odd problem with that. When I open the iso I made, I can see all the folders, but no files, including the one I need to change the lba of. Am I doing this wrong?

That seems to happen to me as well, only with certain iso's though.

    does it say opening failed?

No, it doesn't. It opens okay, but I don't think it can see any of the files, just the folders. Is there a working iso for FMCB somewhere on the net? I just can't find one.Or if someone could make one, that would be great. I am talking about the method here.
EDIT: Also, UltraISO works in wine, and I made the FMCB iso using its 'PS2 cd image' tool, but the lba is still low, like 28, and I can't change it. Would the iso work? I don't want to waste a disc.

you may want to try and dual boot windows and linux, a pain I know.

but it may be the only way to run cdgenps2 to edit you lba's.

if not i could make the iso for you and upload it somewhere.

*Bump* Well, I recently got a new computer and it has Windows 7. Now, I am trying to use the swap method with NHL 2004. I replaced NTGUI.ELF and such, but when I swap the disks, I get the good ol' "Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc". Maybe I burned too fast? I think the slowest my drive goes is 4x or 6x. I really want FMCB.

Did you jam the PS2's drive door sensors?

If you still need help in adjusting the LBA of a certain file in an ISO, I can help to give you instructions on doing that with a HEX editor.

Otherwise, you could borrow a friend's modified PS2 (Of the same region as your's) to install FMCB for your console.

If by "jam the drive door sensors" you mean "make the ps2 think the door is closed when it is really open", then yes, I did jam those sensors. I'm thinking it is a problem with the disc, as I followed the tutorial pretty closely.

Its possible the disc is at fault, especially if you've never used that disc brand before on that PS2 console. Each console seems to like some brands, where it wont work on another one. This is mainly due to how the lens wears per console, since a burned disc is not as high a quality as a pressed factory disc is.

It is always recommended to use the highest quality disc and burn at the mid-range your burner allows, to ensure it doesnt burn too fast or too slow.

Another option instead of messing around with burning and wasting discs, is to just ask a volunteer FMCB Installer ([READ FIRST POST!][Free Service!]I can install fmcb for you!), as i see you first asked for help back in April. You would have had it already, if you asked back then.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded
