I did debugging and testing on a PC (Since the PS2 is slow at bootup with FMCB v1.8B and most of my memory cards have been blown), just to be sure that the new MCTOOLS module didn't corrupt the filesystem in an unintended way.
And I didn't notice any abnormalities with the way MCTOOLS functioned in the final tests on my PC.
What I propose that you and/or any of the other installers could do is this:
1. If a cross-regional install is required, ask the client whether he/she would mind being a Guinea pig for the more or less untested unofficial FMCB v1.8C installer.
2. Check for corruption and dump the memory card, once you receive the card from the client.
3. Do the install and test the installation, and do a quick check for corruption (This is, of course, assuming that the card was not corrupted to begin with) with the PS2 browser. There should be 3 "FMCB" folders.
4. Finally, send the memory card back, and send the dumped image to the client for backup purposes.
