Some general info on FMCB

Sorry I am sure all of this information I am asking for is available somewhere but have been struggling to find some of it.

So FMCB is currently the only nicely implemented (no disc swapping) homebrew/backup runner available?
But a specific way of backing up must be used? "80% of the pirated games arent going to work at all due to how the pirate made a backup." (official FMCB site)
And this will work for all games but I first have to find a guide for the specific method?

And assuming I ask and cannot find someone who will install FMCB on a MC for me [also it might get expensive shipping out of country] (I live in Canada and there are currently no volunteers for this country) are there any sellers of pre installed MC that someone would recommend?

Also very interested to know if FMCB can be used to get around region locking, or is that considered illegal?

and apparently it is possible to install it with only specific game, so maybe I can even just do it myself (or that Swapmagic at least seems reasonably priced).
But the one installation method I am really wondering about is one that uses a already installed version of FMCB.
If I get a installed working copy of FMCB will I be able to use that to update that MC with a new version or install it on another MC?

I would say yes, and even better for those who have ps2 blocked.

yes.
using ESR, you can run backups on ps2 blocked, but should patch the game image before burning it to DVD.
but also you can use
OpenPs2 Loader, play games from USB devices, PC (network), and internal HDD (fat ps2)
PS2ESDL, play games from USB devices
ps2psxe play PS1 games usb and network
psxlaucher play PS1 disc games (needs swap).

you have to use the method most convenient for you, but regardless of the method to install freemcboot, then most games will work.

that I'm not sure if the freemcboot does, but with physical chip that's true.

you must be referring to the method that you should have any person (one, friend or neighbor), with an unlocked ps2 that could install on your memory card?

Well I have gone through all the installation guides on the main FMCB site and all of them seem to be for taking a normal PS2 and some hardware and creating a MC that will boot FMCB on that unmodified system.
what I am interested in is when you already have FMCB working can you then easily create FMCB memory cards of your own?
So if I go the volunteer route will I forever have to rely on volunteers or will I be able to make my own FMCB myself after that?

Once installed you can run the applications you want, including installing it on other memory cards.
you can make as many as you want.

But if you want to install FMCB for other people you must take the "Multi-install" so it works on other PS2, and not "Normal-install"

OK, I was wondering how the volunteers got around that particular hurdle.

to make it clear , a multi install lets that FMCB install work on all types of console in the REGION that the install was made in . the REGION is the last two digits in the Model number. in Australia our MG region is 02 so a multi install will work on a 30002,a 55002 a 79002 etc... get the idea? a multi install does not work on different regions like 77001,77002,77003 etc... now there is an exception to this as it has been proved that 03 and 04 regions ( both Europe) are cross compatible.

With my FMCB v1.8C installer, that is no longer the case. A multi-install means a true multi-regional install too.

Hence, my one and only memory card is bootable with my SCPH-10000 and SCPH-xx006 consoles.
