So... what do I do? –
06-11-2008,04:46 PM
What I have:
Swapmagic CD 3.whatever
PS2 Fat
USB Drive
Newest version of FreeMCBoot
Official Sony memory Card 8MB
How I Boot FMCB -> SWAPMAGIC.ELF (which is the FreeMCBoot .ELF in actuality) with BOOT.ELF (which is a ULE ELF I downloaded) in SWAPMAGIC folder on USB Drive .
Whats happening -> It goes through the install fine, but when I reboot, I get a red screen. Im not sure where to go from here, or what Im doing wrong. If I dont have the BOOT.ELF (ULE) in the SWAPMAGIC folder, FMCB refuses to install.
Any Help appreciated

you have to download Ulaunchelf 4.13, then copy it in the usb stick and call it SWAPMAGIC.ELF and put it in the right directory, then copy it again as BOOT.ELF in the memory stick. Then launch swapmagic again and load the elf, then copy BOOT.ELF in the BOOT folder in mc0:/ or in mc1:/ (depends on where you have the memory card)

In the interest of getting you a quick answer, you can always do what I did. I already had ule on my ps2 so all I had to do was launch fmcb off the usb drive.
You could install ule from a disc image and then go from there:
http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewt...2060db87fb016b (burn cd then swap magic)
Then just use File Browser to go to "mass:/" and that's your usb drive.
Run the fmcb elf and bob's your uncle.

That'd work, if not for the fact that if I have boot.elf on the Flashdrive, ULE refuses to laod :|

I think you are missing the boot.elf on the BOOT folder of mc.
Just launch ule from sm and check what did the installer put on you mc and tell us, but it's most likely that.

Ok, got that done. Do I still need to use COGSWAP to boot my legal backups or no?

That or swap magic, as far as I know. I'm sure we'll all be happy when we hear otherwise.
Oh, off topic, do you know if you can rename an elf in ULE? I don't seem to have an option to do that. Do I need to rename it on the pc then transfer it back over?

You can, theres an option to "Paste and Rename" at the bottom when you copy it.
