For example, would this work as a CNF (or even less)?
Put a cnf ,edited as you suggest, on your newly acquired micro USB stick and see if it will load from it.

I've not tried deleting any cnf variables, but perhaps it will still work. Let us know what you find out.

This is quite simple, search for the reboot/poweroff elfs and edit your config...

Nothing special about my conf, everything (as much as possible) runs from mass:/ including the configuration tool. The layout is designed to match Sony Stock BIOS, so aside from the FreeMCBoot logo, until you scroll through the menu, it looks 100% like an unmodded PS2.

I'm interested in modifying the cnf so i can run everything from mass usb problem is i don't want to redo the installation on the memory card (disc swap etc.. it was a nightmare when i did it).My ps2 is not modded (no chip)

Is it possible to modify the cnf, put it in a usb stick , copy it from usb stick to the mc and replace the old one. The problem being i believe this .cnf is embedded in some kind of file or folder called sysconf on the mc, someone confirm this please.
