i'm new to all this ps2 stuff ... also i have this very unsupported model

and .. have an odd exprience installing FMCB , i have a moded slim ps2 and want to install FMCB mainly to run OPL 0.7 and lunch backups from my 500GB usb hdd ... as you all stated ... have no luck and no OSD ... except that i found that while booting my ps2 -after installing FMCB - if i hold down the triangle on my bad i boot to ule directly !! is this normal ??
That's normal DEV.1-Booting of your modchip.

that was ok for me ... so i used ule to launch OPL and go from there .
i had this strange idea of renaming OPL elf as BOOT.ELF and reboot thinking that might lead to booting it instead of ule if i hold the triangle bottom . so , i renamed it in the install folder - deleting the boot.elf belonging to ule - and then try reinstall FMCB .

here comes a very strange thing as doing this -ignoring some messages from FMCB during install - and reboot and i found the OSD menu of FMCB comes up !!!!!!!!

Yes - there was a lake of complete scrolling itemes that fmcb offers - but it was there

so is this mean anything to you guys who know what i don't ??

    plz help

    and execuse my bad english
It has nothing to do with switching the ELFs.

How did you started FMCB after the install?
With this button in the FMCB-Installer, or while reseting your PS2?
I guess with the button within the FMCB-Installer.
This button and a function in the newest uLE-Beta can start FMCB even on those SCPH-90k-PS2s, with BIS 2.30.

That reply is incorrect, and I think you may have misunderstood the question.

ruisebas did NOT ask if he could boot FMCB on that console (which is impossible).
He merely asked if he can use that console to perform a valid FMCB install (which works fine).

He should be able to use SwapMagic to boot into uLaunchELF, and use this to launch the FMCB installer, and that should then allow a perfectly valid install of FMCB to be made, even though that FMCB setup can not auto-boot on that console.

But it can be test-run using either the "launch fmcb" command to exit from the installer, or by using the "MISC/OSDSYS" command of the latest uLaunchELF beta v4.42a.

Both of those cases use code similar to that of older bios to launch the OSDSYS extension file from MC, just as for a normal boot on an older console, but performed in a way that is independent of the bios version.

    Best regards: dlanor

BIOS 230? No, that doesn't work with FMCB.
