I understand. I'm not certain how I can send him a PM though, perhaps due to lack of permission on my side (new member). I can add him to my contacts but that's as far as I can seem to get.

use Visitor Message
view his profile and you should see Visitor Message as shown in the picture below .

Perhaps I'm being a little slow but I don't see any of that on his View Profile page (forums/members/jimmikaelkael/)?
yeah i cannot see it either maybe he disabled or something like that .
What are my options now?
I'm surprised no one else has brought up problems with the RGB signal before now, it makes a huge difference to the image quality.
Acquire his e-mail address from the Internet and send him an e-mail message. I don't know whether his e-mail address on his Bitbucket account is still valid, but you can head over to the OPL Bitbucket repository and look for his e-mail address on his Bitbucket account profile.

I bought an official Sony S-Video cable which arrived today. This solves the picture problem but doesn't allow a true RGB signal. The picture quality is a lot higher though so I'd consider it a good compromise.

Yes...
the order from worst to best is
composite ........ yellow RCA connector usually on a cable with a red and white RCA for stereo sound. All video info is mixed together
s-video ...... a small round connector this separates the signal into luminance and chromience (i think cant remember)
then comes component y Pb Pr. this is still an analogue signal.
scart can have either or all of these
not exactly sure where RGB come into this but i would think it equals component.
HDMI is a digital solution so should be even better....

The picture is being displayed on an old CRT, HDMI and Component are not an option.
