I have swap magic, and the dvd one no longer works, but the cd one works fine. I don't have the money right now to buy a new one, so I looked in to the free mcboot, I installed it, and it works fine.

I also have armax, but I use a backup copy of it, because my original is so scratched up my ps2 no longer reads it. now I used to use a method to load the armax with the dvd swap magic, then turn on the cheats, tell it to start the game, put sm back in, then my backup/import game, and it worked every time. Even as my dvd sm started to not work, I could start with the cd sm, I made a cdr backup of armax, then the 2nd time you have to put in a sm I'd use the dvd one, and it worked somehow, but now I can't even do that.

So basically my problem is that I want to use the free mcboot method and be able to use armax... does anyone know how I might be able to do that?

    1) use this link to browse to a swap magic tutorial that suits your questions,
    http://forums.sksapps.com/showthread.php?t=5914

    2) technically fmcb cannot launch a burned disc alone but it will enable you to launch game/back-up "loaders" such as esr, opl, and so on. other than SW, esr is the other disc loader but is limited in the exception that it can only load burned disc in dvd format only excluding cd discs. other users have been able to modify cd format games (disc image) to dvd format so that esr can recognize it.

esr cannot load "software or data dvd discs" as SW can. yet, i can recall that i have read a thread over at a forum in afterdawn.com that a gameshark disc image was modified to work with esr. i failed at following that tutorial. anyway i doubt that esr can be used to launch back-ups of both SW and ARmax (in dvd format).

If you still want too use your backup armax with Swap Magic as you did before.

Then you would need the SM 3.8 ELF file and use it with fmcb 1.8

When you first load the SM 3.8 elf you will need an Original PS2 DVD disc in the PS2 when you first start fmcb 1.8

One method is too just press R1 as you start your PS2, thereby loading uLe
Then have SM 3.8 configured in uLe

Once the SM 3.8 elf is loaded you can use Armax the same way you did before when you had the Swap Magic DVD

Another method is to configure the SM 3.8 in the Sony Browser using the fmcb configurator
I have my fmcb 1.8 configured to not boot the DVD in tray right away.
Its all in the fmcb tutorial guides on how to configure

This is how I do it when I want to use my Armax, as I keep my Original SM DVD in my V18 all the time.

he's still too green to have any knowledge about elf programs and especially those that were modified to load homebrew or cheats.
