Questions regarding FreeMC Boot and what it can/cannot do? –

First time poster, long time hacker.
I have a question regarding FreeMC Boot. Does this program allow me to boot straight unadulterated PS2 backups without having to use SwapMagic? I have successfully installed it using Swapmagic and uLaunch, but I can't figure out how to boot a backup without reverting to using SwapMagic. I really don't want to get into modding DVD's to work with it. If it is not possible to boot straight backups please let me know. I have read through as much info. as possible but can't seem to figure out if this program allows this. Thanks in advance for any and all replies. AAAARRRGGGGGHHH !!!!

FMCB is just a loader which add more menus(apps) to the OSD...the app that allows you to run backups is ESR not FMCB.FMCB just allows you to run ESR without any way to run backups/homebrews.
And btw to make those backups work with ESR you need to patch them first before burning them.

Thanks for clarifying, I was goin' crazy over here!! I was under the impression that FreeMC boot would, once installed, would act like SwapMagic, and cancel the use of said boot cd and dvd. Guess I'll stick to SM for now as i am too lazy to hack/patch games to run ESR. THANK YOU ...

Patching the games isn't something spacial...just select the ISO and click on the Patch button and then burn the game but still,ESR isn't perfect and there are some games that aren't working with him.

And when you say it isn't perfect, well, that's the reason I do not want to get into exploits that deep. I haven't really had much of a problem with SM, I was just hoping that I could save the "swap" step without a modchip using FMCB.

It's far and few between when you find a game that won't work with ESR.

Is Rev 9b the last for ESR?? Because I searched and found only that one. Curiosity is getting the better of me. LOL. Maybe I will do a little research and playin' around ... I'm such a hack addict, hence the name ....

CD games on the other hand are a different matter. Some work and some don't. One CD game that i know is very very finicky. It's called Okage: Shadow King. If you modify the CD to run with ESR, it goes nuts when you try to enter the very first dungeon. Seems to work correctly only on HDLoader or using Swap Magic.

Still trying to confirm if Rev 3b is the latest version of ESR? I still haven't found anything higher, but want to be sure when I start hacking around that I have the latest toys!! lol ... Thanks for the replies ... AAARRRGGGGGHHHH!!!
