Sorry for the noob question but do we need ESR elf file or does 1.8c already have the necessary files to read burned discs?

If it does need the ESR elf file how would I put it on a mc already formatted with fmcb 1.8c? Would i just use the "tool" software provided in the package? If so is the root path of the mc simply "/"?

Thanks for all ur help and thanks jimmi and anonymous for ur hard work!!

The ESR is standard in packages....

But you can look what Apps you have with the package.
Boot to uLE (Turn PS2 on, when you see the FMCB-logo press and hold "R1" on trigger).
When uLE comes up, press "O" on trigger then you can "Browse"....
mc0: is MC in slot 1
mc1: is MC in slot 2
    mass: is USB
    cdfs: is the DVD-Drive
hd0: is for internal HDD (fat PS2, slim HD-combo)
MISC: there are some Apps too
    ....

And if you want some Apps to copy to MC, copy the *.ELF you have to USB-stick, boot to uLE, browse to "mass:" (your *.ELF), press "R1" for menue, select "copy", browse to "mc?:" where you want and paste it (press again "R1" and select "paste")

I tried the repack and had issues with signing the kelf but the ps3mca-tool-fmcb-1.8c version worked like a charm the first time I ran it. Thank you for your innovation and thanks go out to your anonymous contributor as well as the rest of the guys behind FMCB.

Other than that, I noticed that the tool did not install much with FMCB on my memory card. Would anyone be opposed to me re-writing the batch file to include the installs for the noobie pack of apps with FMCB and uploading it?

It is unlikely that anyone will complain as long as you test it first

    V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred
Is how all good gaming systems came to be

Sounds like a plan then. I will make some adjustments and then test it to make sure everything is proper prior to posting it on here. I feel like I need the practice with batch files and command line functions anyway.

I had a similar question earlier today and found that it was a simple answer. With the version of 1.8c that I got ESR was not included. I looked into the different apps available for FMCB and downloaded them to my pc after my PS2 was successfully booting FMCB. Then I put the .elf Files for the apps on a flash drive and used uLE as LopoTRI discussed to copy the .elf files over to my memory card for easier access. From there you can also go to the configurator in the main browser and set buttons for pre-sets so you only need to hold a button to start a specific app when turning the PS2 on.

I hope that my response helps lead you in the right direction and if you have further questions, most answers can be found on the freemcboot website, sksapps website, and on the forums here.

Any news on getting this working with the generic brands?

I have opened mine up and it has

    on the PCB:
    A2 VSMA66HB1 OR A2 VSMA66H81(not sure can not make out the 8 or B)

    REV: B
    2008/3/26

    CHIP
    MA66H811
    13ADB1042604

also one thing I noticed was J tag was there also.

What is needed on getting this all working?

    On linux here.

I have programming knowledge, so anything to not make this a wasted product.

Edit: I'm a dumb, found out the answer to most questions.

Though, is it still ABSOLUTELY necessary to format my mc for this to work? I really dont want to lose my battle trophies and gameplay data in star ocean 3.
