    First up, congratulations Jimmikaelkael!

On topic: So does FMCB v1.8C still require the X modules?
I found a way to send Magicgate commands with the regular SIO2MAN module by imitating what Sony's SECRMAN module does.

The reason I ask is that it's easier and legal for users to install FMCB for their older consoles if they don't own a newer console.

Jimmi has been developing replacement modules for the PS2 SDK. You know that. I suppose freeing FMCB from SONY code is one of his goals with the new modules.

That's good for the PS2SDK and the community, and I wish him all the best too.

However, having to load less from MCs means less wasted storage space (Space that could have been used for game saves) and faster booting.

You absolutely don't need X modules at all on those early PS2 models, well I have at home something called 'libsecr' which provides freesecr, secrsif on IOP and a lib on EE I callled libsecr.
I should be really easy to merge it with the PS2SDK as I used it like that for a while (for my own researches, the code has never been released).

The new FMCB payload is only 66KB, a single file works for all regions, and if you crosslink, you only use 66KB of your memory card space for booting on ALL REGIONS. I don't see how it could get any better than that.

We are UNLIMITED IN THE SIZE and REGION!!!

So cool,... Even a 100KB-Loader would be small and fast in loading-times + could include a lot new features.

What I really like to see (atleast as a choice).
The very same FMCB-Loader which includes a 'microsized' version of USBD.IRX and USBHDFSD.IRX (only read-support and a bit fine-tuned to support as many devices as possible and of course still with support for external drivers if present).

This would give the 'RESCUE'-Function it's total 'rock-solidity' back.

Btw.: You're missing something. Every Dummy-Cluster which is patched to point to the new Data-Sectors is a losen sector, so you must add:

Number of dummies * dummy-size to the size of the MC-KELF.

512 bytes are lost to each mirror copy of 66kb ? That's too small to consider on this math.
Not enough to store a icon.sys file even. XD

I even gave Jimmi a list with the *valid* names that exist and he no longer makes the same thing as DATEL (use a lot of oddball names whose a lot were attempts at educated guesses) so only 5 filenames to crosslink at maximum. Check MCA tool main.c to see the said names.

Yes, regardless of the file-size of the original file, I suppose it is as big as a normal FAT-FS-Sector.

That's too small to consider on this math.
True, it is not a lot, but still only then the information is 100%ly valid.

Not enough to store a icon.sys file even. XD
    22Dummies * 512Byte * 3 or 4 Region-Folders (B?EXEC with 'A'; 'E'; 'I'; another?) = 33KB or 44KB.
That would be enough for an Icon.

I even gave Jimmi a list with the *valid* names that exist and he no longer makes the same thing as DATEL (use a lot of oddball names whose a lot were attempts at educated guesses) so only 5 filenames to crosslink at maximum. Check MCA tool main.c to see the said names.
    Aaah,... Interesting!
    That changes some things.

    5Dummies * 512Byte * 3or4 = 7,5KB or 10KB.
