    Hi everyone,

We recently found a new way to install FMCB with the PlayStation3 Memory Card Adaptor (CECHZM1) connected to your PC. Since this device is somewhat cheap, it could be a good alternate way for those who don't have access to an already hacked PS2.

Where to buy USB MC Adapter:
    Code:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000K1GZIU
The method consist of a command line software and using set of commands (or scripts) in order to install the fmcb hack properly. It also has the advantage to do a multi region/models installation. One restriction is that the software doesn't work with datel's mc (mainly related with setting a proper termination code for comunications) and maybe with some other brands, however it was tested successfully with official 8MB Memory Cards and with some crappy chinese clones too.

Currently the FMCB loader being installed is v1.8c which contain an important kernel fix for the 10K.

The util to allow to communicate and sign the file for the MC was made by me and "someone who wants to stay anonymous". Note that without this anonymous contributor it would have been impossible to achieve it.

git repository: https://github.com/jimmikaelkael/ps3mca-tool (No longer accessible due to DMCA takedown request to github by Sony)

Note: only works with official adapter atm

I can't believe it is really out!

    Yeha!
I guess, this might spread FMCB even more than before.

    Worth a news-thread on front-page, isn't it?

After 2 1/2years this is the first official loader-update (update at all, but I force my view on the loader here), which finally includes the V0-Kernelfix and thus even makes some programm running on those PS2-Console-Versions, which they officially do not even support (WITHOUT ADDING V0-Support to these Homebrew-Apps, itself!!!).

Btw.: @Jimmi: The source which you put on your git is only for this PC-Software, not the loader or any other stuff of FMCB, or am I wrong there?

    Thank you guys.

I'm not against a news post, however I never done such thing so I prefer to let this task to someone experienced for that.

Concerning the sources, it's only related to the PC software yeah. No FMCB (v1.8x) sources has been provided (for now), and if it is one day it will be on a separate repository.
The package attached in the 1st post contains the PC software binaries (windows/linux), some scripts, and the stuff FMCB needs to install like icons, config file, the configurator, uLE and the FMCB v1.8c loader Kelf.

Note to Windows users: you need to install the device drivers first, they are provided as download on the repository (link provided in the README file).

Could someone please capture a picture of the 'hacked OSDSYS', with simply the 'c' added after the 'Free McBoot 1.8'?

    Btw.: Beginning a news-post:

'Free MC Boot' Version 1.8c-loader and USB2MC-Adapter-Tools released!!!

After 2 1/2 years of silence, Jimmikaelkael today officially released the FMCB1.8c-Loader, which is the first released PS2-MC-KELF generated from scratch and Multi-region-flagged.
The new MC-KELF-Generation was invented by Jimmikaelkael and a source/hacker, which prefers to remain anonymous.

-you can now install FMCB from a PC to MC with these MC-Adapters!
-You can sign MC-KELFs to your MCs directly from PC!
    -you can make multi-region-installs!
-The FMCB1.8c-Loader finally includes the V0-Kernel-Fix for those old SCPH-1x000-Consoles (this gives users of those old models the ability to run a few homebrew-apps, which were previouly incompatible to those versions)!

That means: Nearly everone on this planet can install himself and friends FMCB, regardless of regional restrictions.

I suppose this new release is especially good for countries like brasil, which imported their consoles from different MagicGate-Regions.

Here's the release- and discussion-thread of the new stuff&tools: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/new...ll-fmcb-88649/
Here's the official FMCB-release-thread: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/off...eleases-58292/ (Official Free MC Boot Releases)

    Jimmikaelkael's GIT-Repo: https://github.com/jimmikaelkael/ps3mca-tool
Suggestions for the news are welcome.

Ah,... And what about adding it to the official release-thread, or are we limited in the number of attachements per post?

whee! mechacon cipher finally figured out.

that was something i was looking forward to.

i suppose running BBNAV on pcsx2 should be possible now. i wonder whether it's a complete implementation, or just the bare minimum.

There were folks running non hacked PSBBN and non hacked PS2 OSD on PAL PS2s for a while now(about 6 months), buddy...
And I posted PPF patches to make some of these boot KELF files region free. If you search this very forum you will find them.

It's worth mentioning that the FMCB KELF in the package is region free, absolutely free of SONY code and also does not require anything from SONY to operate. ^_^/

Indeed! I have it on my Party-PS2 (with Singstar and EyeToy-Stuff)!

The internal HDD was bigger than 128GB, but it is ToxicOS-Formatted (even thought I do not have a DMS4) and the HD-OSDSYS was placed within the first 128GB!

I guess, that's why it was working for me...
But afaik I didn't even had 128GB filled on the HDD, regardless of the fact that I used ToxicOS's EXT-APA and had the Sony-Stuff like the HD-OSDSYS (HOSDSYS) located in the first 128GB anyway...
