ShakaFlocka, if the games freezes, then the disk isn't ok. You must use apache like in the tutorial FMCB FAQ in Announcement on this forum. I used another tool the fist time to substitute the file but the games was freezing after swap. You also must burn the this on 4x or lower speed.
I used this method with FIFA 06 (described above) and SmackDown vs Raw 2007, but i only was able to load uLaunchELF with FIFA 06, although its possible too with SmackDown which i think its harder due the way the laser moves in this game. Both games run smoothly after disk swap on main menu: music ok, can play.
You must find a ".ELF" file on the game disk to do this method, and you must know which part of the game launch that ".ELF" file.
If there isn't one ".ELF" file on the game disk, then i think you can't do this method.
Another game to work!
Game-Medal Of Honor:Vanguard (PAL,Multi9)
Media-Nivino DVD-R,7x burn speed
Kinda tricky, but you get a reward in the end.
Here's what you have to do:
1. Make a copy of the game
2. Download Apache v1(version 3 won't work)and the uncompressed BOOT. ELF in the original guide.
3. Open the ISO you made from the game in Apache, and highlight the MOH5RDVD. elf. (notice I wrote the filename in capital letters, you must rename the uncompressed uLE to MOH5RDVD. ELF in capital letters, otherwise it won't work)
4. Select Change TOC,and change Size(dec) to 915196 on the original file. (the original MOH5RDVD. ELF from the DVD)
5. Then, select Update Selected File, and change the original ELF with the renamed uLE.
6. Close Apache then burn the new ISO to a blank DVD.
7. The tricky part:Turn on your PS2,and wait for the PS2 logo to disappear, then you will see it will slow down a second, then speed up again. Exactly when it speeds up,swap for the uLE DVD you made.
8. The game's first loading screen will appear for a short time, then uLE will take its place.
This method worked for me,and took me 1-2 minutes to do it,and it works perfectly. The same applies for NTSC I think, since it boots the same way. Even cheap media works. (I got the blank DVD just for 2 bucks)
im sure many are aware but i couldn't find a whole lot of info specific to my console.
have a v7 or v8 SCPH 39010 (online pack) and no game would work for me but agent under fire. found a greatest hits version and it worked.
i tried many EA Sports titles with NETGUI, socom 1 netgui and the online starter disc that had a few demos. nothing was working. it seemed as though all were checking the authenticity like on newer models. this unit i have came CIB but was used and had 2 stickers on the seal. i'm thinking it was a refurb perhaps? either way. AUF worked was worried it wouldnt since there was so many reports of alot of my titles working for others.
I got very interested in the PS2 scene lately and I've discovered that while this is an amazing effort, the freemcboot website has disappeared taking the swap trick list down with it.
As a result, I compiled all information from this thread into a handy Excel 2003 spreadsheet (I made it using LibreOffice, of course). It does NOT contain information found on SKSApps, or information on Demo Discs, as it was getting a bit convoluted.
I'm not very good at using Excel but it serves its purpose.
Unfortunately I can't upload .xls attachments here, and I'm not sure if I have figured out this Google Drive/Docs business, but I'll figure it out, but here goes:
(Obviously, 007: Agent Under Fire takes the cake as the most compatible game)
There were some points where the information was too convoluted for me (or I was too tired) to get it all in a single line, so I linked to the original posts (or in the case of Nightfire, a youtube video) instead.
If anyone wants the source file to keep it updated please PM me.

Reason: Fixed link it is real and good :)
Also, I should note I tried the swap trick with Agent Under Fire (PAL platinum version) as shown here: youtube com/watch?v=JPOODhSwalc and it worked flawlessly. Adding another confirmed working to the list
I sincerely apologize that I do not remember exactly how I installed fmcb via the swap disk trick on my fat ps2. however I do kno that I do not have swap magic, I may have used an action replay though. I do know I used disk 1 from final fantasy 8.
here is a new submission sly 2 replace the elf files in the ratchet 3 folder and put the game in the ps2 and go to the title screen and hit L1 R1 L2 and R2 and a demo for ratchet and clank 3 will appear just like ratchet 3 but hit square to start the demo and you will have to double swap when the laser goes up and when it goes down swap but it is not precise because there are 4-5 elf file tried on ps2 slim 70004 with a pal copy of the game. PS I put ulauchelf on the disc
