Ratchet Deadlocked: Confirmed as NOT working
Hello, greetings, I'm new here. This is my successful try with a DEMO DISC in order to can help anyone else.
Console PS2 SCPH-50004 [Version 9 - FAT].
Following the 'PS2 Game swap trick' of the FreeMCBoot web, with these modifications:
-Original DEMO DISC with the Yabasic programming application on it (YABASIC. ELF file) (in my case)
(I think that these DEMO discs with many *.elf files are very useful for our tests. The first far and little .elf I choose DID work)
-Iso backup made with DVDDecrypter, modified with Apache1.1 (rewriting file with uLaunchElf v4.30, 915196bytes) and burned with DVDDecrypter.
-Modified ISO burned into a DVD-RW Verbatim at 2x (yes, DVD-RW) with an aged laptop dvd-burner.
-Load up the ORIGINAL demo disc and wait to main menu.
-From the main menu choose 'Yabasic' (in my case) and here begins the multiple swapping "game". (With the PS2 and tray case previously opened, obviously)
-Looking the laser position (you can see it through the disc), let the ps2 to read the first anti-piracy tracks, then, when it moves to read the tracks with our modified file, swap to the BACKUP disc first time. Quickly the laser will return to recheck the first tracks again and you'll have to swap with the ORIGINAL disc another time. Again, the laser return to the .elf file track and you have to swap again. And a last time, the laser will return only to verify the first tracks and you have to swap to ORIGINAL last time. I seem to remember it was about 3 swap actions. (Actually you have to do as many swaps as the laser returns to the first tracks to verify the disc, the number of rechecks will depend on the PS2 fw version (the older the easier)).
-With the ORIGINAL in the player (because the uLaunchElf file was already charged to the PS2 memory between the swaps) the uLaunchELF app will run.
-Then you can install FMCB into your MCard perfectly & freely (0$)
All it seem a little confusing but it runs! I needed 3 or 4 attempts to achieve success (because the laser is fast) but finally I managed. You have to get the magnet tray and the disc in your hands prepared to do the swap. In the first attempt you obtain practice.
TIP: You could also take the advantage and clean carefully your laser lens with alcohol and cotton sticks. I did.
A lot of thanks to all the altruistic people of here, I hope I have helped also. (Excuse my beginner English)

Do you need a network adaptor? on my ps2 its says the hardware is not found... If anyone knows this please let me know. I have a PS2 with a fliptop without a network adaptor and my friend lost the swap magic disc, so i want to find a way to install mc freeboot
NEVERMIND IT WORKED![]()

A report on my experiences so far:
SOCOM 2 (NETGUI): Red screen
Burnout 3 (NFSUNDER demo): Black screen
I followed all the procedures listed in the tutorial to the letter. However, I was using DVD+r media. So, I went out and bought -R's and Agent Under Fire.
Ripped the image, resized the TOC, replaced DRIVING, used IMG burn to burn onto a Memorex -R at 4x. Swap at main menu, load second level, and I get nothing but a black screen.
Gaaaahh...
I'm using a 700012 model, BTW.
EDIT: Got it to work with Agent Under Fire, its all in the timing. I had someone else press x to select mission two the same time I swapped discs. You have to swap between pressing the button and before when the car appears in the mission briefing. Took two tries, but it worked. I about shat myself out of excitement.

Picked up a cheap PS2 79002 last week and thought I'd give this a go. It's been giving me hell though. I've tried burning with DVD-R, DVD+RW and DVD+DL, but no dice.
Tried:
007 From Russia With Love [PAL] - No demo on disc
Socom 3 [PAL] - RSOD
Network Access Disc [PAL] - RSOD
Demo Disc - the one mentioned by DjFarl a few posts up. - Black screen/RSOD
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater [PAL] - RSOD
Got Medal of Honor Rising Sun and Socom 1 ripping at the moment, so I'll let you know how those go.
E:/ Just tried Medal of Honor and that was a no go. Still got SOCOM to try.
Just tried SOCOM and neither the method here nor the one on the FMCB site tut page worked. Am I doing something wrong with the patching?
1. Rip the ISO using ImgBurn
2. Change the TOC size to 869336 (Using uLE 4.12 as I heard it's yields better results)
3. Replace the old .elf with the uLE one
4. Burn ISO to DVD-R at 4x with ImgBurn.
Is there something I'm missing in Apache like a save changes button?
I've tried the backup in PCSX2 and it works fine loading by ISO and by disc.

Have you try it with the "uncompressed" uLE 4.12??
If no try with it and not with the "compressed" uLE.elf...
hi , I have ps2 8A 900003 , please tell us when we should swap the disks in -Smackdown vs Raw 2006 method -PAL
LopoTRI,
Tried the demo disc again this morning and I got it to work! The demo disc is PBPX 95506 and I believe it may also be known as Demo Disc V1 in Europe.
I tried using uLE 43 (uncompressed) and I replaced all the elf files except the ones in the root folder. It would boot, but freeze when I tried to browse folders, so I used 412 instead.
Boot up the disc and select "This is Football 2002" and when it displays the controller configuration, swap the disc for the backup.
Let the laser go to the far edge, then it will quickly come back in so swap out the backup for the original. The laser will read that and then go out again, so swap out the original for the backup.
Yeah, it was the uncompressed one I was using.
