The method you used is the only reliable method on a FAT PS2.
Pulling out the drive-bay whilst the disc is spinning is not a good idea (because of the drive-mechanics) and since these game-swap-methods are time-dependent, it is good to have the drive/case opened...

I guess you did something wrong with the image/game/disc-creation/preparation.

I replaced all elf files in the MOHRS directory in the root of the dvd. This includes EAGLRM.O which is also an elf file.

The swap requires a bit of timing and needs to be done just as the playstation 2 logo disappears. I succeeded on the second try. After the swap uLaunchElf should start automatically.

Game: Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (Platinum Edition) - PAL - SLES_518.73
    Console: PS2 slim - SCPH-75004
    Memcard: Original Sony 8MB
    uLaunchElf: Version 4.12 - Compressed
    Disc: Philips DVD+R 1-16x speed

For the file replacements i overwrote the start of each original elf with the uLaunchElf elf so my new file had the same size as the original, so i didn't need to change the size in the TOC. Probably it also works using the regular method.

Note this game also contains some elf files in the NETGUI directory, however replacing these didn't work for me as an additional disc check is done before these are launched (you get the red screen).
can you tell me exactly what you did step by step? im a bit confused and still havent manage to get it to work. got loads of games including this MOHRS im just new to this whole thing so any help would be great.

Sorry if this is a dumm question, I have not got any of the games on the compatable list. When i rename the .ELF file does it have to be renamed to DRIVING or to the name of the original .ELF that i am replacing?

    Thanks

The homebrew ELF must always be renamed to exactly the same name as that of the original ELF it is to replace. Otherwise the game code will not be able to launch it.

    Hey guys,

Okay so I have the following:

    1. Slim 79001 NTSC
    2. SOCOM: Navy Seals
    3. FMCB ready to go on a 512mb usb stick

I've followed all the tutorials available and somehow it doesnt work at all or im just not fast enough... I've used Apache to replace the TOC with 915196 and updated the NTGUI.ELF with the uLaunchElf ELF in the SOCOM ISO which was copied and burnt with DVD Decrypter.

For some reason in this version of SOCOM, the laser doesnt move to the outer edge of the disc; instead says still. I've tried to swap the discs as soon as I press X to 'Edit Network Configuations' but that doesnt work. :s

Has anyone else encountered anything like this? or can maybe shed some light on what I may be doing wrong?

    Thanks much, Xeon

    can't do the trick correctly...

tried MGS3 SE and Socom II US navy, both failed.
Swapped disk will play the game just fine.

Seems like re-authentication, don't have any other game to try, will try to track a AUF copy

    any help will be appreciated

I just tried several ways of doing the swap with the game Ratchet: Deadlocked. 2 out of the 3 ways worked, sadly the one that doesn't work is the DVD one:

    1. I swapped ntgui.elf in the NTGUI folder and ran the .iso on PCSX2. Start the game, go to multiplayer -> Online -> Network Configuration (Press Square).
    2. Just like #1 except I used OPL v0.8 this time and it worked perfectly.
    3. Just like #1 expect I tried burning it to a disk. When I pressed square, it would act like it is loading, but instead it will go to the PS2 browser.

So I think it is possible to do, I might just need to mess with the different speeds of burning the disc.

Ok i Dont Mean to sound like a complete Dip but i have tried the swap trick many times wasting 8 or so discs which is not much so far but before i continue i was wondering if the swap trick might be possible with ps1 games like changing an .ELF on a ps1 game to The Ulanch.elf or do ps1 games even have ELFs? Idk i was just wondering
