So if i understand correctly you cant just push Eject on the PS2 Fat to let this work?
You think Sony was going to make it easy to run a backup? You're exploiting a backup to run a hacked version of your original hence letting you install FMCB.

it was just a question since when i push eject and put the DVD back in the tray (so i just try with original one, it just freezes when it's out and starts running when its back in) So should work for Copy's i guess

Tried using Verbatim DVD-R discs, burning at 8x,6x, and 4x speeds, with
007 - From Russia with Love (changed a demo ELF file)
NFS Underground 2 (changed a NTGUI.ELF and the Burnout 3.elf demo - so two different elf files)
I used uLE 4.42, 4.20, and one other one I found somewhere.
on my ps2 v15, it may go black, pause for a second, then go to the red screen of DAMNATION AND THE HACK NOT WORKING
I'd reconsider these two titles, perhaps put them in the "maybe works" section, or ask people if anyone has successfully installed ulaunch on a ps2 v15.
007 Agent Under Fire (Platinum) disc ID "SLES-50539-P" works faultlessly
i successfully installed FMCB on my v9 PAL SCPH-50002 Fat PS2..
these are the basic steps i took to do it..
removed the top casing for easier disc swapping
i also removed the smaller black cover that sits above the DVD drive spindle assembly
then i removed the round white magnetic piece from that small cover
using that magnet on its own literally shaves many seconds off the time it takes to do the swap
just put the original disc in and place the magnet on top to hold it in place
boot the game using the original PS2 game DVD
play through the first level,
once the first level (3 objectives) is finished (wierd analog controls i must say)
choose "Save Mission" to save the game, and then go to the main menu again
these next few steps should be done as fast as possible
its a good idea to practice the swap with the power off
that way you can get a feel for it without risking damage to your discs or PS2
by practicing over and over, you can become very quick and minimise any damage
i have brought the swap time down to a lot less than a second by practicing
and now you must get ready to move fast like ninja WAX ONNN WAX OFFF
highlight "Mission Select" from the main menu and press X
you should have the backup disc in your hand ready to swap it
highlight the second mission called "Precious Cargo" and get ready
very quickly prepare for the swap as you press X on the mission "Precious Cargo"
you MUST be ready because the "car picture" appears only a couple of seconds later
AS SOON AS THE IMAGE OF THE CAR APPEARS DO THE SWAP LIKE THIS:
grab the magnet quickly with your thumb and forefinger and (continued below)
flick the original out onto your lap (or a cushion etc) with your pinky or whatever finger
immediately hold the backup disc above the spindle and (continued below)
place the magnet in center of disc and lower onto the spindle asap
once you hear the girls voice pause slightly, you can press X to start the mission
hehe what mission? the uLaunchELF mission thats what mission
i hope that helps someone here.. ive learned everything regarding this exploit FROM here, and can only hope i can pass on some good luck to someone who is having troubles like i did..
i am looking at a spindle containing 37 wasted blank DVDs of asorted brands, types, and prices.. and wouldnt you know it, this worked on a "BASE" brand DVD-R.. BASE is a generic brand available at Target here In Australia (or was it K-Mart) and i got a 50pc spindle for AU$12.95.. in other words, they are cheap-as-chips DVD-Rs and they work.. plus i had no more "good" brand blanks left.. and after 37 failed attempts i decided "bugga this im just gonna go buy the game".. picked it up for $6 aust at my local EB Games (no manual or paper sleeve cover, just the game disc in a blank PS2 game case..
i cant thank you guys enough for all the help you have unknowingly provided.. im surprised you didnt notice me lurking about in that shadowy corner over there, eavesdropping stealthily.. but seriously, thanks guys.. my other PS2, a dead Slim PS2 (DVD drive motor is shot) now has a new reason to be spared a grim future which involved being melted down or shredded and made into some lame potheads plastic bong bottle or perhaps a phallic object.. it thanks you all too
now im off to contact your fellow FMCB installer "Spud42" that i no longer require his services.. today is a happy day!

Smackdown vs Raw 2006 not working
Smackdown vs Raw 2006 not working –
hi there people! can someone give me a hand?
I don't know why but I did everything exactly as described in http://freemcboot.info/swap.php to use Smackdown vs Raw 2006 to boot uLaunchelf but it still doesn't work... I don't get it... It worked for so many people here...
I tried with princo's, then sony blank dvd's and nooothing
I have a slim PS2, model SCPH-70004 CB, anyone have a clue why it doesn't work??
Edit: I have NTSC Slim model SCPH-79001
I managed to get the swap method to work with OPM 79 but it is not easy. The system DOES do an additional disc check when loading another ELF, but if you are fast you can beat the disc check. Here is what I did.
Load OPM 79.
When you get to the main menu, swap to modified ISO (I modded ALL the external ELF's to make it easier, but I will be using Lifeline in this example, as this is what worked for me.)
Go to playground then lifeline
with the lid open and the sensors bypassed (so its still spinning), launch lifeline (with the modded iso disc in)
The laser will go toward the outer edge of the disc, this is load 1, it is loading part of your uLaunchELF. The laser will then go back to the center of the disc. WHILE THE LASER IS MOVING, SWAP TO THE ORIGINAL.
This is the disc check. Once this is done it will go back towards the outer edge of the disc. AGAIN WHILE THE LASER IS MOVING SWAP BACK TO THE BURNT DISC.
You need to be QUICK because if you are too slow in either part it will fail.
If you are too slow before the disc check, it will fail verification and go to the RSOD.
If you are too slow swapping back after the disc check, it will read part of the original ELF, thus corrupting the data it loads into memory.
This takes some practice to get to work but I managed to do it after 30 minutes of trying. IN THEORY THIS SHOULD WORK WITH ANY GAME THAT LAUNCHES ANOTHER ELF FILE. But that is, of course untested.
But it IS possible to BEAT THE DISC CHECK.
007 Nightfire works with cogswap and uLaunch 4.12 CD
007 Nightfire works with cogswap and uLaunch 4.12 CD –
Some say it does some say it doesn't and there are a number of tuts on how to get it to work but after hours of trawling the forums and piecing bits together I found a combination that worked on my PS2 Fat v5 or v6 not sure which.
Nightfire will ONLY work with Cogswap as the trigger elf file. Then you use Cogswap to launch uLaunch and then ultimately Free MC Boot.
Followed the tuts on making Nightfire into a boot disc using IMGBurn and Apache1.1 to replace DRIVING.ELF with cogswap.elf from the misc section of skapps.
Burned the cd image of uLaunchelf 4.12 from skapps onto a cd using ashampoo burning studio.
Formatted the usb stick to FAT32 using tool from skapps.
The level for launching the exploit is Enemy vanquished (use the TRACTION or PASSPORT cheat to unlock the level for your save game, saves a lot of time)
Used slide card to swap the discs at the level select menu.
Selected the level and cog swap launched from the copy Nightfire DVD as advertised.
Used the eject button on the PS2 to eject the copy of Nightfire and then I used a PS2 cd ridge racer V and used the eject to close the tray.
After cogswap read the disc and showed it was a PS2 cd (did not press any button for this to happen, if you press x I found the game will start.) One it had read the cd then pressed O button to get the 'Use Cogswap' screen.
Again used the slide card to get ridge racer out and then replaced it with the uLaunchelf cd.
Pressed X and after a few seconds of black screen, the screen flickeded and got the uLaunch interface.
Navigated to mass storage etc as per the tutorials.
Only reason I'm writing this is because there were posts that said it would work but none had all the steps in one place and some would have worked if they hadn't said to press the wrong buttons, not to use the eject etc.
Had no success with dvd version of uLaunch 4.12 only cd version worked.
There was nothing remarkable about the cd's, dvd's or usb stick used. Cd's and DVD's were cheap bulk buys (No quality buys so didn't hurt the pocket too much wasting 6 dvds and cds getting the right combination).
Anyway all this has probably been covered before (appologies if it has). Just hope it helps someone by having most of the information in one post.
