PS2 Game Swap Trick - List Submissions –
10-16-2009,12:08 AM
Its very difficult to confirm if a games working or not if only few people post the results. So this thread is meant to keep all discussions in one place where those trying to swap a game can find what others have done to get a game to work or did and could not get one to work.
Please post if a game works for you or if it doesnt, so we can add information to the FMCB Guides.
I originally searched the internet and found those currently listed now, so they still need to be comfirmed to work or not. Some games have gotten conflicting reports and remain Unconfirmed.
All games when first reported are "unconfirmed" until several people can say if that game has worked or not. So dont ask why your submission is listed as unconfirmed.
Thanks to everyone who helps build this list, that it will help others install FMCB much easier.
Edit by TnA: Keep in mind, that the disc-swap is time-dependent (since the disc isn't stopped) and sliding with a slide-card will most likely not work!!! Open up your PS2 and swap the discs, this way!

Confirmed working!! My first attempt and it worked on the very first swap.
Instructions:
Replace SLUS_201.99 file in DEMO folder
Burn to disc
Boot original disc
Go to Settings on the main menu and select Dave Mira BMX demo
Swap disc when menu appears asking if you want to load demo
Hit yes
Presto!

Since I do not have any cheat tools/swap magic or friends with a "chipped" PS2 the Game Swap Trick was my last hope, but since it failed I just PM'ed H4andy requesting the install service.
Anyhow, I thought it would be appropriate to at least contrubute in this Thread:
I tried the Swap Trick with the following PAL (I am from Germany) Games on my "fat" PS2 (v10 SCPH-50004):
Some old Demo Disc (PBPX_95514 is the Name of it, I do not know how to find out the Number):
I was first very confident because there were many "secondary ELFs":
F1 02: F355EU.ELF
Ratchet and Clanck: RATCHET.ELF
Stuntman: STUNTMAN.ELF
Tekken 4: TEKKEN.ELF
This is Football 2003: TIF2003.ELF
Unfortunately I was not successful: After swapping the disc, menu continued and I could even watch the videos on the disc. Unfortunately when starting any of the "modified" games the disc was rechecked and it gave me that red "insert original PS2- Disc" screen.
F1 (Formula 1) 05:
replacing the NTGUI.ELF failed due to the fact that the PS2 checked for an existing network-adaptor before launching the ELF.
replacing the LOADER.ELF was kind of useless too because I could not find out when the "LOADING" happens...
replacing the SCES_5225.01 from the CAMEO-Folder (used to create your own personalized avatar using the Eye Toy-Camera) was the most promising thing since it was clear where you had to change the DVD, yet it failed, too:
Rather than just launching the modified SCES_5225.01 it rechecked the DVD and gave me that red "insert original PS2- Disc" screen.

SSX 3:
Replacing the NTGUI_EU.ELF was also not successful since the PS2 checked for an existing Network adaptor prior to starting the ELF similar to what was the case with F1 05.
Sum up/ Troubleshooting:
-Most games (possibly because they are not old enough) with an NTGUI.ELF or similar seem to check for an existing network-adaptor which makes replacing these ELFs unsuccessful.
-Replacing other secondary ELFs was not successul since DVD was rechecked beforehands.
->possible explanations:
-Replacement of the files done incorrectly (-> I don't think so, followed the instructions very precisely and used 2 different kinds of writeable dvds)
-bad swapping technique: I use a self-made "slide-card"(similar to the one shipped with swap magic) cut out from a telephone card rather than using a flip-top which makes swapping slower (approx. 5 sec)
-Games have some new checks implemented.
-PS2 BIOS has some annoying checks implemented (Since it's a v10 aka the last "fat" one this could be possible)
Sorry for the sometimes bad English, I'm from Germany (especially using capital letters at the right place is a bitch...), if there are any questions I would be happy to clarify/provide screenshots.
Should the Error really be on my side I would be really happy for some advice on how to make the swap trick work, I am clueless and I am going to ask for the installer service.
P.S.:I could also name you some games without any secondary ELFs at all, yet I do not think this would not really help keeping the list clean
I just used Madden 2007 to get ulaunchelf up. I used NTGUI.ELF, swapped cd at main menu, went to "Play Online" selected "Create New Account" and ULaunchElf came up. Yay! I beleive this is the correct place to post a new game?
***Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, NETDOWN.ELF [ press start, your now at the main menu, swap disks, select "SPECIAL", now select "CAMOUFLAGE DOWNLOAD", ulaunchelf will start]
Confirmed on a v4 using DVD+R media! I didn't realize at first that 'O' is select, not 'X' hah. Got nervous, only had 1 DVD+R I "borrowed" from work. I actually selected SPECIAL before swapping disc.
This is great. Completely free hack, no parts needed. Got 2 of these v4 PS2's out of junk boxes here in Antarctica, and wasn't about to spend money or wait a month for parts in the mail on something I got for free.
