Hi, there, I'm trying to get the FMCB installed. and as I don't have a Swap Magic\Cheat disc, I wanted to go for the PS2 game swap trick.
Sadly, I do not have any of the games listed in the tutorial, and I was wondering, is there a list with more games that have been tested and worked ? Or does anybody have a recommandation from personal experience ?
I've tried a bunch of my orig games, but none of them had a .elf file .. I don't really know which games contain these files.
    Thank you .

The file with the number like "SLUS_202.02" is an .elf file.

So every PS2 game has one or more ELF's on the disc.
    PS2 SCPH-70004 V12 PAL + HDCOMBO + 160 GB Samsung HDD + OPL 0.9.1
    PS2 SCPH-70004a V13 PAL Satin Silver

That is true, but they are not all suitable for the kind of swapping described in some of our tutorials. (Like for that 007 game)

In order to be able to swap discs from an original game to a burned disc with a replaced elf, it is necessary for that game to contain some secondary elf file, apart from the main boot elf, so that the user will know exactly when to perform the swap (usually following some in-game menu command). And that is the reason why only a limited set of games are recommended for such use.

Unlike the main elf, which always has a name derived from the product ID code of the game, there is absolutely no standard for the naming of secondary elf files, so it is not possible to just look at a directory listing and know what to use, nor even if any extra elf file at all is present. To make sure of that it is necessary to inspect the contents of each file, to see if any of them contain a valid ELF header. But even if/when such a file is found, it may not at all be obvious when or even if the game will use that file, and without knowing that it becomes effectively useless.

Finding that out may be a very tedious job, as it is quite possible that the extra elf is only used in very special circumstances very far into the game, requiring long-term gameplay just to reach the point where it can be tested.

    Best regards: dlanor

If you give me some more details, the steps used from gameplay, when to swap and the part in the backup game to trigger uLaunchELF to load, i'll add this game to the tutorial.

    Replaced NTGUI.ELF in NTGUI folder.
Main Menu > Game Modes > Play Online > Continue without saving
Swap at Network Configuration screen and hit X

Wouldn't most older games that support playing on a network be applicable?

Thanks, i'll add that to the working games list in the tutorial.

I'd say its a higher probability that PS2 games older than 2001 would work better, as well as most if not all PS2 Demo discs.

The more people try it and report, the better the list will grow. Its really a "trial & error" way to find out what works and what dont.

The only one of these games that I own is Ratchet Deadlocked. I followed the instructions carefully, but I just cant get uLaunchELF to load. Unfortunately the guide does not say when to swap the disks, but I've tried over and over various ways. At the title screen, at the main menu, at the multiplayer screen, at the "online mode" screen. I've tried starting/loading a game, switching and then returning to the main menu and proceeding. Every time the game either locks up, or reboots. The disk should be fine cause I've loaded saved games and played from it. I even went back and checked my work on the .iso in Apache I've done everything right.

Has anyone else gotten it to work with this game? I saw a post in another forum where someone had, but I just can't see how.

I did what you said exactly, PS2 black screen for 5 seconds, then ask me put a PS2 format disk...

seems it doesn't load uLE, or my PS2 79001 validate the disk before load .ELF file

do you have the modified NTGUI.ELF(I am using the one in uLE version 4.4)? what size you put in apache?
CAN you send me your working file?

    Thanks!
