Hello, first post Hopefully, I'm in the right forum...

I tried running ps1 backups on my v15 ps2 slim by using Free McBoot and the swap trick. All the sensors are blocked and the games work. The thing is, it doesn't seem to respect the settings for "texture mapping" and "drive speed". While I can live without the latter, the former is the whole point of running them on a PS2.

In original ps1 games texture mapping works just fine. But it doesn't work for swapped backups, either with uLaunchELF or psxloader.

Is that a known problem, or just something wrong with my configuration? Couldn't google anything for the life of me...

Oh, and I run the ULE and PL off the usb stick, since I can't get them to run off the memory card... (SMS and OPL seem to run fine, though).

If u used the Noobie Package to install FMCB to your memory card, I think uLE should be configured already so u can boot it from the FreeMcBoot Menu.

Since idk what Texture Swapping is, I can try to fix your ULE and PL to work on the memory card instead of the USB stick...

First of all, u should go to Free McBoot Configurator (Should be the last option on your FMCB menu)

You should see all these Toggle/Options, go to the one that says "Configure OSDSYS Options.."
This is what you should see:

On the 2nd option on that screen, you should see "Configure Item 1: ...." Go ahead and enter that one option using O or X (depending on what u pressed when u first entered the configuration) There should be a Name, and 3 Paths. Like this. (http://freemcboot.info/FMCBv1.8/item_set.jpg) If that isn't ULE, then i would go back to the screen where u Configure OSDSYS Options. go down and put the cursor onto "Configure Item 1: ...." BUT this time, press left and right. Try to find ULE. if u cannot find any, find a free, blank Item option slot. for example, "Configure Item 55: ___" Should probably be blank, hoping u haven't configured lots of it yet. enter a blank one, and then use O or X on the Name Option once you've entered the Item # Configuration. From here, you can create a Name to appear onto the FreeMcBoot Menu. For example, Cogswap did not come with the FMCB noobie package. Therefore, if i were to put "Cogswap" for the name, "Cogswap" would appear on my FMCB menu. Then once you are done, press Done (or w/e). then head down to the paths. press O or X on it. from here u can browse for your BOOT.ELF (Or Ulaunchelf.ELF). If UlaunchElf is still in your USB stick, direct over to "mass:/" press X or O to make this tiny asterisk on folders/files. press O or X on your BOOT.ELF (depending on what u used for options, ofc.) then press R1. head down to Cut then press X or O to cut it. To verify, it should say Copied to clipboard in RED text at the top left hand corner. Direct to your FMCB memory card. Head into the BOOT Folder. press R1, and press O or X to Paste it there. once done, press X Or O (depends) on BOOT.ELF. the destination path has been set. u can now then head back to this screen "http://freemcboot.info/FMCBv1.8/main0000.jpg" then click Save CNF to Mc0/mc1 (Mc0 is the memory card slot 1, and mc1 is the memory card slot 2.) Once done, press "FMCB Restart/PS2 Browser." FMCB should reboot and you should be left at the FMCB menu. UlaunchElf or whatever name u did should be there. Start that new Option, and ULaunchElf should boot.

Hopefully this helped, and not to confuse u.

As far as I know you can't set "Texture mapping" as smooth if you launch the game by powering on the console with the disc inside. Exactly what happens when you use uLE and FMCB. It's just that you interrupted the boot at some point then had it resume after a swap.

@OP: Have you tried setting the texture smoothing and disc speed options in the OSD first, before starting your Playstation game?

The settings are lost when the console is cold booted, while reseting the console by hitting the RESET button once won't cause the settings to be lost.
