    Hi,
i am new with this.... i got a ps2 with fmcb 1.7 and try to upgrade to 1.8 with the newbie package and a single memory card and a hdd. it installed well and the esr runs ok so i can run backups.....but i can't launch homebrew apps i dont know why.... i only get a black screen and then nothing happend.

i need to format the memory card and install again?

I do believe you could just replace the old ESR.ELF, with the new ESR.ELF, and make/save a new configuration file.

If you are able to do a full install, then that is what I would do.

You gotta get the fmcb configurator and make Ulaunch one of your booting buttons. For now you need to just worry about getting Ulaunch booted up. That is the program you want to use to open the homebrew. Try getting a USB stick and download Ulaunch rename it to BOOT.ELF and put it in a folder named BOOT in the root of your memory USB stick.
So say your stick is drive K then K:\BOOT\BOOT.ELF should boot into Ulaunch for ya.

I dont think the FMCB installer over-writes any apps existing on your MC from a previous install, only over-writes the files for th FMCB system. So if you already had those apps (the recommended ones from noobie package) then you will need to use uLaunchELF to copy the new ones and over write them that way.

You can easily boot it just as Bradical mentioned, as files are searched on a USB device before the MCs are. Its safe to copy uLaunchELF's BOOT.ELF to the MC from USB while its running.

    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded
