Yea, so i followed the steps, but when i got to the last part, i opened my disc tray, pulled out 007 and put in my backup. Then i selected the level 2 but it just showed a black screen and nothing else!

i cut off the game, and put the 007 disc back in, poof! my game wont get in, i cant see the starting music sequence.. i can only see it go as far as to PLAYSTATION 2 then black screen forever -_- did i do something wrong with the swapping? and if i did, should i resort to my starwars battlefront 2?

Also, i tried the codebreaker method, and everytime i stick the usb in, my entire codebreaker freezes.

i tried starting with the usb in, poof the codebreaker takes the longest time i've EVER seen to load! then freezes at the part to choose where to go.

i really want to play my old persona 4 again, and my crash mind over mutant T_T but if i cant install FMCB nor ulaunch or anything else, im lost.. can anyone help? my Usb is a Cruzer 1gb or i think its a usb.. i stick it in my computer and get my files #_#.

THIS is my usb i use, is this good for the codebreaker exploit?

    and is it compatible with CodeBreakerV10.0 Sep 2 2006 10:33:50 (Build : 1c6b)

Since you mention that CodeBreaker freezes on insertion of your USB drive, I suspect that you have a slim PSTwo of model SCPH-750xx or later. On all these models it is impossible to use CodeBreaker with any USB device connected (even if it is only a keyboard or mouse or even an empty USB hub). So no FMCB install plan can succeed if it relies on using both CodeBreaker and a USB drive on such a console.

As for the SanDisk Cruzer drives, they are excellent for use with PS2 consoles, provided that you prepare them properly, as follows:

1: If the drive contains the u3 launchpad (==Garbage) software partition this must be removed, using a tool you can download from the SanDisk homepage.

2: You need to format the drive to FAT32 filesystem

But like I said, using any USB drive with CodeBreaker requires a console older than SCPH-750xx, so I suspect CodeBreaker can't help you with this.

As for the swapping issues, someone else will have to help you with that as I've never used swapping methods (and never will).

how do i know what version is mine, and it doesnt freeze upon insertion
actually if i plug it in any other time it doesnt freeze anything, but if i plug it in and start codebreaker, its like HELL to start up, its extremely slow and when u finally make it to the part to choose your choice of options, you get the massive freeze where every 30 mins = a nudge on the bottom part of the screen with those words about codebreaker (you know.. where it scrolls?)

i've never formatted the drive, nor deleted ulaunch which i beilieve is garbage.. i also got my slim only this year.. does that mean new slims = bad? or old slims = bad #_#

i also bought my slim late 2008

Thankgod! Ive been looking all day for someone with the same problem as me, I have a ps2 slim SCPH-750xx and as soon as i get to the last stage (launching the driving level) the screen just goes black.
I tried the same iso file with pcsx2 and uLaunchELF booted up just fine.

Iv'e already wasted 3 dvd's on 007 using different versions of ulaunchelf (all uncompressed boots) and a 4th dvd using the same method but on smackdown vs raw 2006, and with that game at the last stage the screen just freezes.

Ive done everything 100% acording to more than one tutorial but still the last step just fails. I also left it on the black screen for 10 mins to see if it would take some time to load but still no.

Could it be the usb drive im using? does ulaunchelf launch if a usb isnt inserted?
I can swap discs fine (ive blocked all 3 sensors) If it is due to the ps2 model I have, is there anything i can do about it?

    please help!

    EDIT:
also, something to note is that i have the pal version of the game and a pal ps2 slim, and I noticed on the disc (of 007 agent under fire) instead of the usual 3 elf binaries ACTION.ELF, MOVIE.ELF and DRIVING.ELF, there was ACTION.UK and ACTION.GER and other european countries and so on, so no action.elf, but i dont think its a pal issue since my pcsx2 bios is set to pal

I suspect that it is not a matter of PAL vs NTSC, but rather a problem of the multilingual nature of Europe as opposed to the monolingual nature of the US region (officially anyway).

Quite likely the PAL version has different ACTION elf files depending on the language used for strings embedded into that program file, with different files needed for various European languages. In such a case I expect that the main program uses the language choice you made there to choose the file extension of the ACTION file to be used and constructing the appriate file name, such as ACTION.UK if you chose the english language in the main program.

So if it is the ACTION.ELF that you attempted to replace (I've never used this method myself, so I don't really know what is appropriate here), then you need to replace one of the language specific versions instead, such as ACTION.UK.

Another thing to do is to get a hex editor and inspect each of those ACTION.* files, to check that they all have some ELF header at the start of the file, which further confirms my assumption that they are all variants of the original ACTION.ELF, but for different European languages.

    Best regards: dlanor
