Is the USB stick formatted to FAT32? That is a MUST to format it to that file system.

Put the USB in your PC, check thru MyComputer and right click it for the properties and see what filesystem it is formatted to.

Hmm, it reports as FAT, though it doesn't say if it's 16 or 32. I would assume 32.

That would be FAT 16, so you need to format it to FAT32. Copy anything you want to save off the USB to your desktop, then right click the USB stick in My Computer, and select "Format", then in the window that opens, select FAT32 from the drop down for File System.

Then after the format is complete, you can copy those files back and try it again in the PS2...and it should work.

Okay, tried now with the proper filesystem. Configurator still sees it as empty.

Try it again from scratch, with the CD. But keep the USB stick in....maybe fMCB installer will see it this time.

If its still not working, then i can only say its 1 of 2 reasons: the modchip is interfering or the USB stick itself is simply incompatible with your console and/or the homebrew apps. I can only suggest to try a CD with uLaunchELF on it, but the configurator is based off uLaunchELF and i doubt it will see the USB stick any better.

Heh, just tried that and no-go. I'll give the "boot ULE from disc first" thing a go next.

If all seems to keep failing for you, you might have some success using the MC that you got FMCB installed to and using a different console {unmodded} with the USB stick and that MC, just might work.

Another problem your going to have is not being able to get anything launched by FMCB, since it didnt install the USB drivers, i just realized this is going to be a problem too. I dont know if the configurator is dependant on those drivers or not.....but uLaunchELF is not, so if you can get it to run....you should be ok after that.

I just had a thought.....if you renamed the uLaunchELF's file BOOT.ELF to FMCB_CFG.ELF and place it in the FMCB_CFG folder, it could work......you said you can run the configurator....right? Well thats the configurator's file name FMCB_CFG.ELF !!

    So theres still hope yet....

Hmmm, I can't seem to convince the PS2 to load the ULE boot disc. Maybe it's a hardware fault.

Try switching those files i mentioned above and reburn the Installer CD you first made. Its that last option i can think of, short of using different media or cleaning your lens.

Unfortunately I'm all out of CD-Rs now, so I'll have to wait until I can buy some more, probably tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help so far.
