Hi there. I've managed to get FMCB to boot off a burned CD on a chipped PS2, but when I go to install it it throws up first one error:

    Code:
    No USBD.IRX, USBHDFSD.IRX found in INSTALL/MODULES folder
FMCB Loader will not have access to USB device...
    Continue ?
And then if I say 'OK' it comes up with a second error:

    Code:
No BOOT.ELF detected in your INSTALL folder !
    Continue ?
Hitting OK again at this point completes the installation, but only the OSD menu hack seems to actually work. No ULE or anything like that.

Now, I've checked the disc and those files and folders ARE there where they're supposed to be. What am I doing wrong / how do I fix this?

The files in the MODULE folder that came with FCMB are missing for the usb device problem.

For the BOOT.ELF missing, rename your ULE to BOOT.ELF and put it in the install folder. You should then see the ULE when you start up your PS2.

The files are there, and named correctly as far as I can tell.

Here's a screencap to show you:

Try putting the INSTALL folder on a USB stick, as it seems your disc is not being read very well and FMCB cant see those files.

If you are using a USB stick, then make sure its in the console when you boot it up and not plugging it in while its already on. I've had the same error when i plugged in my USB stick after i had the console already on.

Go into FMCB configerator and look around. It will be easy to get used to it. Then look for the ULE item in osd settings. Change the path so it will point to the BOOT.ELF in the BOOT folder on your memory card. It should work after that. If it does not, then ask someone else cause I dont know anything else :P

Could be something to do with your chip, hard to say.

Can you try using a burned copy of Ulaunch and then install from a USB device.

See if it will install that way.

That wont work if the install didnt see those files and never copied them to his MC.

But if fmcb did install, then placing those 'recommended' apps in a folder named BOOT on the USB will show up in fmcb when restarting the console with the uSB stick already in it. Or you can use the configurator if you have apps on the USB stick, as it will allow assigning them off the usb stick.

Then you can run uLaunchELF and copy the files to your MC if thats where you want them.

And yea, some chips can cause unusual side effects, while some dont seem to affect fmcb at all.

I just tried putting the INSTALL folder on a stick and having it plugged in while I tried again, but it made no difference. If you mean actually running the installer from USB, I have no idea how to make the PS2 do that.

Checked in the configurator, the BOOT folder on the memory card is completely empty.

Ok, it could be the chip then......try this, run the configurator and assign the BOOT.ELF on the USB stick , save to MC, launch the fmcb and see if you can get uLaunchELF to run.

If you can, then while its still running, you can install FMCB again , but from the USB stick.

If thats also a no go, then try what windrider42 said and run uLaunchELF off the CD and keep FREE_MCBOOT.ELF and the INSTALL folder on the USB stick. Then use uLaunchELFs FileBrowser to run the fmcb installer from mass:

The configurator runs, but it seems to be unable to see the contentsof the USB stick. "mass" has no files in it.
