SMS itself is already running 'properly', but it can't work miracles. An unmodded PS2 does not allow access to data files on a burned disc in DVD-ROM format, and that is why you got that result.

But any PS2 will allow access to a burned disc in DVD-Video format, and you can also store AVI and MP3 files on such a disc as well, and then SMS will be able to read them.

The traditional SMS method for doing this is to download a minimal DVD-Video file set from the SMS forum, and then use that set in composing a disc in DVD-Video format using Nero or some other program capable of doing such things. Then you just add in the media files you want SMS to play into the same disc compilation. A disc burned from such a compilation will be accessible to SMS even on an unmodded console.

Btw: This method of accessing media files has nothing to do with any of the projects dealt with in the FreeVAST forum, so if you have further questions on this I suggest you bring them up in the SMS forum, where they belong.

As for launching SMS and other homebrew programs without swapping, that is what the FMCB project (Free McBoot) is all about. It is a way to allow all unmodded PS2/PStwo consoles to boot homebrew just as well as a modded console does. (Though there are still some problems accessing normal unpatched DVD-ROM discs.)

    Best regards: dlanor

Try reading this, it might help...

    http://psx-scene.com/forums/official...60-how-to.html

Although if you're trying to view a DVD movie the PS2 should read it by itself...

If you wanna compile a set of .avi files from your PC you must create a Cue/Bin set using some program capable of doing so like CDexplorer and burn it with either Nero or Imgburn... I just tried it and worked... If you create an iso directly from files on your pc it will in fact say "Illegal Disk"...

    Hope this helps...
