I've got mcboot running on my modded slim atm and it's doing fine with a usb hd (though usb is too slow for me). I'm selling it this week though and the fat ps2 I'm getting has no method of installing mcboot. So I believe I just need to reinstall mcboot on my mc as a multi install before I change systems right?
Are there any major programs that have to be installed during the mcboot installation?
My current usb stick has http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials...ie_Package.rar on it. So I've got the basics covered. Can everything else I might want later on (like new HDL versions, app skins, emulators) just be copy and pasted from the usb stick to the hd/mc later on?
I won't have both at the same time, so I'm just trying to make sure I won't have to go out and buy a boot method for 20 bucks after the fact.

Yes, that is correct, provided only that the fat PS2 is for the same region as your current slim PStwo, which I assume that it is.

The absolute necessities are the FMCB configurator and uLaunchELF (aka: uLE), and I think you already have those. Using these you can always boot up with the ability to install new stuff later, using uLE to copy stuff between the various media (USB, IDE HDD, CDVD, MC, LAN).
Edit: Actually you'd need ESR too, in order to copy stuff from CDVD...
Yep, that should do it.

Sure, that should be no problem.

No need for that.
Just make sure you have that multi-install done before getting rid of the slim PStwo and you're all set.

Thanks D
Saw your post in another thread and another question popped up.
Is there a fat version that should be avoided for an internal ide hd setup? I figured as long as its fat and has the network adapter I'm solid.

I'm not aware of any fat model with IDE HDD problems. Of course, I've only had three myself, so there are many models I never tested, but I think I would have heard of it from others anyway. The only models to avoid are the very old SCPH-100xx - SCPH-150xx models, since they seem to have some basic issues with FMCB compatibility, but I dont think there is any risk of you finding one of those, as they're very rare.
