I have FreeMCBoot installed on my v7 PS2. I want to play PSX backups, but I don't have a way to swap discs other than completely opening up the system. The guides for using the slide tool seem to have different looking CD trays. Is there just no way to do this then?

Only way to do it is by swapping. Go to the MC utility and insert a PS1 game and wait till you see the black disc. From there one must slide the tray out without using eject button. Put the copy in and close the tray making sure you slide it back to the left. Once it is done you have to press X and it will boot. I suggest though once you see the black disc on the screen wait a few for the disc to spin down so you don't damage your laser, it only takes a few seconds. There are guides on how to make a card with an old credit card or such. It takes a little while to get used to but it works.

Not completely true, there is also http://psx-scene.com/forums/f164/ps2...preview-64878/. I used this and got Final Fantasy 7 working on my Fat PS2 from the memory card. All you need is the PSX BIOS in the correct folder and to make sure all the settings are correct (it took me a few hours to get it running because I didn't realize that the settings had the game load up as PAL instead of NTSC.)

I realized that other than emulation I would have to swap. My problem is that I figure out how to swap using a custom-made card because my front is different from the tutorials. The only way I can open the tray is by using the eject button.

EDIT: I realized that the guide I was looking at didn't mention removing the front part of the CD tray. I see guides for removing it, but is it easy to put back in? Is it likely to break?
