Playing PS1 Back-ups –
I have a PS2 past version 75001, so I can't install FMCB with Codebreaker, and decided to buy a fat ps2 because I liked the idea of being able to hook up a HDD to it with out having to solder it, and so I could use more than just the 1 stupid sony ps1 memory card I have...and also finding a neighbor that is willing to depart with it for just 10 bucks is nice too.
On my current slim I have the censors taped down so I can swap and play ps1 back ups, and was wondering if you can do that on FMCB. I know ESR is for DVD-rs and you can convert ps1 games to some how play off of that, but I already have 20-30 backups on cd-rs and also DVD-rs are a lot more expensive .
So, its about time I got to the point. Is there another app/method to play ps1 backups with FMCB, or could I just install FMCB with the fat ps2, put the memory card in the slim, and it would still be able to play ps2 backups (with esr)?
your current dvd backups will not work with esr..
your backups need to be patched with the esr disc patcher, what it does is change the file system of the game to look like a dvd-movie.. so your ps2 will not reject the disc.
esr knows the difference between a actual dvd-movie and a game disguised to look like a movie.. and it will launch the game. where if you had a movie in, the movie would just play as normal.
as for the ps1 backups.. the only current method of playing ps1 backups is by using the swap-method. just like you have been doing.
i have heard there might be a ps1 emulator that runs on ps2 software being released eventually... could be a year or more away tho. being made by the same person who made esr, its still in the beta stages.
as for converting ps1 games to ps2.. i have not heard anything about that, if it was easy like that then we wouldn't have a problem playing ps1 backups.... although it might be the case for some games
what you might of been thinking of, is converting ps2 CD-based games into a DVD-based game. as that needs to be done with some games to work with esr. there is another thread explaining that.
i hope i have helped you.
yeah I think it was that...this is why i need to read things twice
if you dont want to hotswap, scratch your disks, and ruin your laser, then do this
boot up ulaunchelf
go to settings and turn on disc control
pop in the ps1 game and block the sensor
when it stops, swap
go to file browser > misc > ps2 disk or ps2browser
it will load up
EDIT: do you have a demo disk or any game with a demo on it?
