I'm sorry, you probably get hunreds of post asking these questions. I've looked through the stickies and searched around but I'm still not sure if this is what I want so i thought I'd ask.

So I want to play back up PSX games on my PS2. I have a fat, unmodded PS2, several PS2 and PSX memory cards and games on both consoles.

So to do this without any modding do I install McBoot following a tutorial somewhere (a link would be nice ) and then install ESR (please link again if possible), then I should just be able to launch games. I don't need any action replay or anything?

And this works for both PSX and PS2 backups?

Sorry again, this information is probably lying around somewhere I just can't find it.

    Thanks

ESR works with PS2 DVD games only.

So theres no way to play PSX games without modding? I heard something about a swap method? Or is there any type of boot disk I can download or buy?

I haven't tried it my self but if you have a slim PS2, you will need to block the censors with Magic Keys II or something similar, load up an original PSX game, wait for the screen to go black and swap the discs.

If you have a fat PS2 then you can use Breaker Pro to load up PSX games. Also you can try this if you have Swap Magic and a slim PS2: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/454485

You've got to be patient, ffgriever (the author of the great ESR) is woring on a PS2 version of the ePSXe emulator. If it's released you can play PSX games on the PS2 without modding or swapping.

It's not ePSXe. It just has a similar name.

Might as well just play it on PC then, I guess there's no release window for the ePSXe? Can you block the sensors on fat PS2s? I heard you can block one of the models' sensors with items from your own home.

Like I just said, it's not ePSXe.

It's extremely easy to do with a fat PS2 'casue the old independence exploit works on the fat ones. The easiest way would be to install the exploit, run uLaunchelf, while in ULE, cogswap out the disc you used to boot with the game you want to play, select the ULE option for taking you back to the system menu and selcet the CD and run it. Or, if it's still available, get a Breaker Pro disc.

Can you go through that for someone who has no idea what you're talking about. Sorry, I've never even looked into modding my PS2 before. Like what's cogswapping?
