I have a 90001 series with a date code of '8d'. I know that people say that the swap trick with mcboot will not work. But, I thought it was only on Firmware of 2.30 and above. I look at my firmware from my version screen on the dashboard and it says 'Playstation Driver 2.00'. I can install mcboot no problem but it will not boot to the modified dashboard. AM I SOL or did I do it wrong? Am I just going to have to go and get a copy of swap magic.? And if so does anyone know where I can get a copy for under $15. Sorry if this question is in the wrong section.

You probably got a Ps2 slim that was made after march 2008 , and thus you can "NOT" use the Free Mcboot exploit , suggest you go and check for a second hand ps2 slim , make sure its SCPH 77004 or below , tested myself with 77004, 75004, SCPH-70004, SCPH-70001
Was not a problem finding a older machine , just finding one for the rigth price (Live in Sweden)
So if your in the US , I suggest you should check out craigslist or ebay for a second hand one.
The cheapest ive seen for the swap magic 3.8 coder discs is a online store in the Us for 22USD
If you want to know just leave me your contact info and I will be happy to give you the link.
Regards
