Good, that Slim-PS2-Lasers are not to expensive. :)
i've always transfered all my games using winhiip because i have already worn out a laser on my old ps2.
I have been trying to figure this out but i cannot get anywhere. Here is my current situation. Long story somewhat shorter. I started following this guide. But i soon found out that my usb stick was not compatible and i could not play any .elf files. (I even tried both alternate ways and no luck) So i started following this guide here.
But once again when i get to the spot where i need to get files off of my usb stick nothing is recognized. So right now i have my ps2 setup with to boot uLaunchElf when a certain ps1 game is in my drive. But i cannot load any other .elfs because my usb stick is not recognized.
So is there any alternate way i could load a .elf file onto my unmodded ps2? I was thinking maybe ftp or burn it onto a cd or something like that.
To clarify i would rather use FreeMcboot over UlaunchElf because i wouldn't need to use a disc to boot the game i just tried that tutorial to see if that would get me anywhere.
Anybody got any ideas? Thanks for the help guys!!
Do you have more than one memory card ?
If yes you should try the FTP within uLaunch to transfer the FMCB installer to the memory card with the PS1-Exploit. Start the installer and put the second card in slot 1 install it. after install change the card back to the one with the PS1-Exploit and reboot within the installer. Now You're back in uLaunch and can transfer the files you need to the second card in slot 2 with the FTP functions from uLaunch :)
(In any way it wouldn't hurt to try this because if it's not working you just wasted approx. 25 minutes of your life :) i will try this method too so nobody can complain that i tell things that wouldn't work.)
-- Edit-- I proved it :) look here http://psx-scene.com/forums/429735-post31.html
well you know how the title of this thread has the word noob in it. well here comes the noob part to it. I just re-formatted my thumb stick for the third time and in uLaunchElf i can see some .elf files on my thumb stick.
So i'm going to go back to the free mcboot tutorial and see if i can get my thumb stick recognized inside the media player. Updates soon cuz i know your dying to know what happens.
Thanks for the ftp help northbear. I will try what you suggested if this doesn't work for me.
If uLaunch recognize your usb-device you can start the installer from uLaunch.
This is the first time ULaunch has recognized my usb thumb stick. I had it formatted to FAT cuz it was less than 2gb and it wasn't working but i re-formatted it to FAT32 just to see what would happen and its being recognized now.
I'm still working with some stuff i'll update soon.
I have installed FreeMcboot on two different memory cards and everytime i boot with either of them in the ps2 just goes back to the opening screen and gives me 3 options. Browser, System config, and Launch Free Mcboot.
When i select Launch freemcboot it goes black for about 3 seconds and then just goes back to the same opening screen giving me the same 3 options. Did i install FreeMcboot wrong. Why am i stuck in an endless loop? I must have overlooked something.
i would like to have the mem card with freemcboot on it in the second card slot. How do i go about editing the config file? Do i edit it when i am installing? Do i even need to edit it or can i just place the elf i want loaded in the boot folder?
Sorry for all the questions.
