Newbie probem with Mcboot
Newbie probem with Mcboot –
10-18-2011,08:31 PM
Okay, so i've bought PS2 on the internet and i got a slim version with McBoot installed and 4 dvd's that work properly. But anytime i burn my own ( using DVD Decrypter and tutorials from the internet ) PS2 wont read it, instead i get a red screan that says i need to put a PS 2 format disc and something else. What is the problem, and can you link me to the tutorial i need so i can burn my games and actually play them ?
Or maybe i'm doing the burning job right, and something else is wrong ?
Help please

Question: Which is safer/easier for the PS2 to read? ESR, or Swap Magic with a straight copy?

I don't think Swap Magic with a straight copy is a good idea, it's really bad for the lens...also most mods are told to lessen the life span of the lens.
You will probably be better off using a program named "Open PS2 Loader" (aka: OPL), since it is far superior in many ways, and also because it is a 100% freeware homebrew project with very active ongoing development.

He would say with OPL you can backup your games in images (.iso, .ul...) and play over USB or LAN (SMB - Samba with PC) too......

Unfortunately, I can't play over the LAN, or the USB (can't use my mom's external hard drive via USB, and I just have a flash drive, which I hear is much slower). Does this mean the ESR is better? Which mods? Are you talking about ESR?

in fact, everything is pirated (copy), just wearing the lens. been playing with ESR or Swapmagic.
The advantage is that the Swapmagic, for example, if you have the games do not need to rewrite them
The disadvantage is that blocking the sensors, and also switch discs every time you play.
To me the ESR is much better than swapmagic, the only downside is having grave - Patch with them or rewrite them if you already have the game.

But to play over the LAN do not need a USB device.
the PC's internal hard drive, it is sufficient

Wait a second, will I need some sort of adapter? We have a million old laptops sitting around doing absolutely nothing; it'd be great to use those instead of the discs! What would I need, as in what kind of hard drive (Sata, raid, whatevs), and what kind of cables and/or adapters?
Thanks for the help!
