I suppose this is due to the function which determines, where the loader is started from.

I guess that can be fixed, by compiling the loader with embedded USB-Modules instead of external ones, or by adding support for the HDD to the check where it is started from. ;-)
If you put it there (and there's it on one of the posts for everyone to try) USB ports won't work correctly and other things might not work either.
