Well, some thing need to be said about the stuff here. It was achieved around two years ago, after the PS3 leaks. So yes, we have this for a while now.
We gave it to the people who DESERVED to have it. When jimmi took the initiative to make something useful out of it SONY Computer Entertainment America sent him two threatening Cease and Desist letters (2011, for PS3 MCA).
PS3 MCA package contained a self built (non exploited) KELF for FMCB (the 1.8C which never got released for automatic install on the PS2 itself by the FMCB team) and because it no longer used NEME's EMBED engine, a new installer would need to be made. Then SP193 did the said installer.
People here criticizing me are nothing but ungrateful bastards. :P
The original author do not want it on the Internet. It's his work and that's what I meant by not sharing something that is not mine.
Only people who DESERVED to have it was given a chance of using it and nothing else will be said about this.
Now, about the MBR, it uses a RAW binary format with a FIXED entry address. We had to "develop" a modified PS2 packer which could be stripped of ELF header and relocated for a fixed load address. Only then it was possible to build MBR KELF files. That's why it took two years to be able to do this.
ALSO, because the MBR is different than a DVD Player KELF the NEME embed method cannot be used with it. So it HAS TO BE BUILT from scratch. People want control and so it's understandable that some are frustrated about not being able to put whatever they want on their HDD boot.
But instead of attacking me think about how SONY would pursue anyone making this information public. All it takes is them see it published. They will act FAST like they did with jimmi.
Thank SCEA for taking jimmi away from us.
