An opl mini review:
This little piece of code really rocks.
Okay, a few things could be optimized, but these are the same as of the big opl.
As an asia fan i like the superb working igr very much.
Congrats!

Now there are only little steps needed to completely free a non modified (fat) ps2.

We should all make proposals how an iso/app installer could be for use with the zony hddosd.
So write here down your ideas!

And yes, though you were obligated by license to post the source to your derivative work, I still thank you for doing so.

I did not build anything related to the MECHACON encryption engine. It was done by an anonymous member of the Internet, so even I cannot tell who did it.

The only thing I did was to build the HDLoader game installer (Which is to be released someday) and the "Mini OPL".

I have not posted anything at Assemblergames about this project yet.

The MECHACON does not use standard DES, from what I can tell.

One idea:
Install a iso with any hdl compatible program on ps2 or pc.
After that the solution for hddosd support could be a tool running on pc that connects to a running hdl server running on the ps2.
We only need to get access to the first 4MB of the partition header.
That is quick transferred to the pc tool.
Now due to the fact all data offsets are known and it's clear how to get the right checksums in the right place
it would be simple to modify the data and send them back to the hdl server.
An icon interface inside of the tool would be great.

Discuss!

this, and pc-only support for folks that have fake network adapters with no lan support (like me :3)

Yes, sorry, i forgot to say it should has local ps2 hdd support for pc, too.

And then the next step would be partition support for applications.

Yet regardless of whoever made the crypto tools... We've apparently got to suck your dick if we want anything made usable.

Here's an idea. Why not make everything but the needed keys public? Or is the big bad Sony entity of pure evil going to come and murder everybody in their sleep if any details not related to cryptography get out?
