as long as you don't conflict with AFL, you can distribute your derivatives on any terms.

that only applies to 'original work', as far as i can say. of course i am no lawyer, but that's my understanding of it.
i am not sure how exactly you could use AFL as a mean to request source code. FMCB is probably on the same licence, and its most recent versions are not publicly available in form of source code.
