Hello.
I have the Memor32 (with ESR) and a nomal MC at home.
How can I install FMCB on the 2. MC?
Thanks
Put the BOOT.ELF file from the uLaunch archive (get it here, it's on the frontpage) on a USB-Stick in the BOOT directory and press during the boot process PAD-DOWN and R1 (referred to the manual). This should get uLaunch started. With this you could start the FMCB-Installer just change the MC before actually installing FMCB.
@ clemsche
Can you say me if the description is correct?
1. BOOT.ELF from ulaunch archive -> usb stick (boot directory)
2a. FREE_MCBOOT.ELF -> memor32
2b. FREE_MCBOOT.ELF -> usb stick
3. insert the memor and the usb stick into the ps2. then start the ps2
4. press PAD-DOWN and R1 to start ulaunch
5. look after the FREE_MCBOOT.ELF in ulaunch and load the file
6. change the MC and install
Is there a difference between 2a or 2b?
I wait for my mp3 player (trekstor ibeat vision 512 MB). I hope that it works with ulaunch.
Thank you...
Yes there is, but that's not the main point.
The real point is that you can't perform the installation properly with just the elf file. You need the entire install package as released, plus the standard elfs that you want installed.
So wherever you copy the FREE_MCBOOT.ELF, you must also copy the INSTALL folder with all its content. And that includes all of the subfolders and all of their content as well. Then you also need to copy the elfs you want installed for use with FMCB into the INSTALL folder. Doing this is optional, but if you have none, then there isn't much you can do with FMCB, except run the configurator...
Read the docs that come with FMCB v1.6 to make sure you get all filenames exactly right.
Still, since you already have the ability to run uLE, you can always use it to add more elfs later, and/or replace any misnamed or misplaced ones.
Anyway, the installer elf needs to access the other parts of the installation package during the install, and this means that you can't just start it from the Memor32 and then yank that MC out, replacing it with the other one. Then the installer can't find the stuff needed for a complete install.
What could work is to place the installer package on the Memor32, and insert this MC into slot 1 of the PS2 at first, and launch uLE from it using the Memor32 method. Then, with uLE running, you move the Memor32 MC from slot 1 to slot 2, and insert the normal MC into slot 1. Finally you use the uLE FileBrowser to navigate to FREE_MCBOOT.ELF in slot 2 and launch it. This way it will be able to find all the stuff needed, and still perform the install to the normal MC (the one in slot 1).
But this method assumes that Memor32 will allow copying a multi-level folder tree to the MC, even though that is not a valid format for gamesaves. The low level MC filesystem does support it, but high-level Sony routines (like their Browser) do not. Since I don't have any Memor32 I have no way of testing if it supports this myself.
If that 'ibeat' unit is at all closely related to iPods then I do not expect it to work with PS2 homebrews, as I have seen failure reports from iPod users, but no reports of success.Quote:

No, iPods have big compatibility issues, but you could buy a SanDisk, Lexar USB stick and if you want a MP4 player, I have Premium MP4 player and it works great w/ PS2 homebrew!
:D
Who can see this is a bad a$$!
Thanks,
then I choose method 2b. I hope that FCMB-installation works with the method 2b.
It's a pity that the trekstor probably not supported ulaunch.
Tomorrow I go into town and I looking for a SanDisk or Lexar USB stick.
thanks for your help @ dlanor and solidus27
No problem! Good luck!
