mcboot and demo –
01-13-2010,06:18 AM
Hey,
I would like to use mcboot by doing the game swap trick. I don't have any games listed on http://freemcboot.info/swap.php.
However I have a PS2 demo disc (OPM2 #44) that may be useful, but I'm not sure about that. It's called SCED_53228 and I found multiple elf's for one game :
RATCHED2.ELF, RATCHED3.ELF, RATCHED4.ELF, RATCHEDS.ELF.
I know I need to mod my ps2 (tape and tissue mod) in order to do the ps2 swap trick.
My question is now: is it possible to install mcboot using only this demo disc and a modded ps2?
I can already try it, but I want to know someone else's opinion first before I mod my ps2 (and void warranty).
I can give more info if you need it.
Thank you in advance,
Wim

If you have a modded PS2 available to use, why not just run a backup disc of uLaunchELF and place the FMCB installer/folder on a USB device and install that way?
Or just make a FMCB Installer disc and install from a disc in the modded PS2? The only issue is both the modded console and the 'target' PS2 need to both be from the same region and you may need to do a multi-install if they are different versions.
Having a modded PS2 gives you more options to install than just the Swap Trick, as that is pretty much a last ditch effort for those who have no other way to install FMCB short of having a Free Installer do it for them.

SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

JNABK, thanks for the reply.
I don't have a modded ps2 yet (and neither bootdisc like swap magic etc) to install mc boot. I'll see what I can do

Well, you can still try that Demo disc if you wish to 'try it out', but it may or may not work. At the worst, you wind up with some 'coasters' to place your drinks on at your next party. Or at the best, it works and you get FMCB installed to your MC and live happily ever after.
