Are you sure you installed correctly and did you run the configurator after installing to check all your paths are correct?

is it an 8Meg card or a 64Meg card? i have problems with the 64 Meg card not always being recognised at boot. a few reboots or powerof helps. i also found if it goes to sony browser then i browse to card then go out again then hit reset it finds the card and boots FMCB

The already installed FMCB files can not be used to reinstall again, as that must be done by the FMCB installer to be done properly, and the installer is not itself installed (would waste space on the MC).

But if you place a complete installer package on the USB drive, as downloaded from this site and setup according to the tutorials (adding companion ELFs as needed to the INSTALL folder), then you can use your current setup to boot uLE, and then use uLE to launch the installer from the USB drive. And then the installer may be used to reinstall FMCB for you, to ensure that you get the proper FMCB v1.8b version installed in good order.

You need to be wary of FMCB installations acquired elsewhere, especially if you got them from someone selling MCs with FMCB pre-installed, and even more so if that FMCB version does not show the normal FMCB splash screen at boot.

There is a well known faker who uses the FMCB v1.7 source code that was released earlier to make fake releases claimed to be v1.8 even though they are not. He has merely patched some text and image display routines of FMCB v1.7, and is now distributing that garbage as if it was the real thing, except that he claims it to be an 'improved retail version', which is utterly false. That fake version is now being sold in some places as 'pre-installed' FMCB MCs. And I suspect that you may be one of his customers/victims...

If that is the case, then a new installation with a freshly downloaded package is the best cure.

    Best regards: dlanor
