Just got done installing fmcb 1.8 on my chipped v12. When I boot the ps2 though I get the small FreeMcBoot logo for a couple seconds, then the screen flickers to black where I can input a controller command to go to SMS/Configurator/etc.. and then repeats that over and over if I don't input a command.

I can't figure out what I haven't checked in order to boot to the ps2 browser with the new options on it. I can launch usbadvance because I mapped it to L1 in the configurator, but because I can't get to the browser I can't explore my memory card to see the game saves at all.

Your LK_Auto_E? path is no longer set to OSDSYS, it's pointing to an invalid elf...
Use the configurator to set again your Auto path to OSDSYS (with select)

Can't say I'm familiar enough with the config files to understand that. Just installed this the other day.

Theres the problem, all 3 of the auto keys in the config are set to OSDSYS already. Still keeps looping.

**Ok, when I'm in the E1 Button Settings and hit Start next to an OSDSYS setting, I'm getting an "OSDSYS Elf file not found." message at the top. I don't know why I wouldn't have the file, I followed sksapps tutorial by the book. Even used the newbie install download as a base.

Could my modchip (magic kx+) be causing an issue with fmcb booting?

Is it the same modchipped console that your having this problem with? Have you tried to disable the chip and see if it stops the 'looping' problem?

Running FMCB on a chipped console can result in unknown problems for some chips. Some chips dont have any issues, while others simply boot the Modchip BIOS ignoring FMCB or just give a blackscreen.

Keep in mind, both the modchip and FMCB are giving boot commands to the console.

    It's the only ps2 I have.

I started to wonder if that might be the case, but then I remember that if I hold the power button for 2 seconds the modchip gets bypassed so that the ps2 wouldn't read my backups (without a fmcb inserted). But when I do that it still has the loop problem.

It's not the end of the world tbh, but it's frusterating.

Not only that, but some will use the same address space resulting in black screen. This is my case.

Well i only offered the idea as i have a CC 2.0SLE chip and Free McBoot will only work on it if i uninstall the firmware. me and jimmi worked on it for a while and i thought we fixed the issue, but the chip doesnt seem to fully disable, as i get an error saying it "no BootManager to display" with FMCB and the chip disabled.

Thanks guys, looks like the fancy menu is not meant to be.

That's making me second guess my plan of getting HDcombo, the chip would probably screw that up too.
