Load ELF on boot from USB automatically?
Load ELF on boot from USB automatically? –

Hi,
Not new to the PS2 homebrew scene, love & appreciate the work everyone has done to make it all happen! I've recently bought a PS3 and I'm giving my SCPH-90004 (w/ datecode 8B) to a friend, who is not tech-savvy at all. What I'd like to do is to hook him up with FMCB though, but just so that he can't mess anything up (even by mistake). In other words, I'm looking for a way to have the exploited memory card load software from a connected USB device immediately upon booting the system. With nothing connected to USB, there shouldn't be any other options beside the original OSDSYS menu items, i.e. no uLaunchELF, no ESR, no HDloader, no configuration options, etc.
I couldn't find a way to do this, however I have the PS3 Memory Card Adaptor and jimmikaelkael's tools on my PC, so if anyone knows how to do it and is willing to guide me through the steps, it'd be very appreciated.

fire up freemcboot configurator, go to e1 launche keys and change the first item (auto or something like that) so it points to the elf you want to boot up. then save the cnf to either memory card or usb (mass)

I feel so stupid now. Thanks, don't know how I didn't catch that! My other question would then be, if I set "hacked_OSDSYS = 0", can I safely remove all OSDYS_ options in the CNF? Thanks!

i don't know, but if you set the autolaunch elf you will be not seeing the hacked osdsys at all, unless you press some buttons that in fact bring osdsys upon booting. it seems that way, though
