Basically, I bought a Memor32 early this year, and it has never worked (black screen for all firmwares no matter what I do, can't execute homebrew either) for either of my umodded Australian PS2s, a fat and slim. Ended up giving away my PS2 FAT, so I only have the slim - SCPH-70002.

Seeing as I don't have access to any modded PS2s or any swapping methods, is there any way to use the Memor32 Savegame Manager to copy any PS2-Slim working exploit straight onto the card ? For instance, if anyone else had Free MC Boot on their Memor32, if they were to backup their card and send it to me to restore onto mine, would that work ?

i think you could try flashing memor32 with memento, and then try to extract memor32 contents with save manager via usb cable, as a first step (you need the memcard signature, and it's in those files).

i don't know what format they get out in though.

try this and show us the files you got out of the card. maybe we can take it from there

^ Well the darndest thing just happened, I reflashed the M32 with 1.1 for the nth time, and put Free MC Boot as Boot.elf. Just for kicks, I stuck it in the PS2 and held R1 down, and after almost a minute the installer started. Let's see where this goes.

With the 1.1 memento32, simpy rename the "ESR DVD direct" ELF to BOOT.ELF and use the savegame manager software (memor32) to transfer it to a BOOT directory on the memento card.

Then when you turn the power on the PS2, just hold down R1 and it will fire off the ESR software (no need for Ulaunch or MCBOOT!!)

EDIT: MCBOOT is only needed to gain the ability to boot the BOOT.ELF (the ESR software). The memento32 has this ability built in to it (simpy hold R1). So MCBOOT and/or Ulaunch is not needed, only the ESR ELF file itself!

I'm having the exact opposite problem. My memor32 has been working fine. I just can't get FREE_MCBOOT.ELF to work at all. BOOT.ELF through BOOT3.ELF just don't want to work.

Did you hold R1 for the entire time? Do you have a hdd in the Ps2? Is there a second memory card in the Ps2??
I can't figure out why in the world it wont work for me. Please tell me your exact set up if you can.

I had problems getting the FREE_MCBOOT.ELF to work on my Memor32 too. Took me probably 20 tries restarting while holding down R1 to get it working. But I've always had problems getting ELFs to work.

I think the way I finally got it to work was when I had a backed up game running and then while holding down R1, I reset the console. Then kept holding down R1 until I saw the installer program come up.

Nice thing with FMCB is now booting ELFs always works everytime whenever I hold down any of the R1/R2/L1/L2 keys.

The safest way would be to launch uLE with the R1 (or any other) key to launch FREE_MCBOOT.ELF.

I have never had any problems launching uLE with the Memento and have installed FMCB like this the first time (now i always use my USB key).
