How to play games via discs..

oh... i was just thinking would using swap magic backups work as a replacement without having to patch the discs?? what i mean is can i use SM backups to play the games? i bought a set of SM 2 years back and made backups of em in case, then the original got lost in our moving and all.. and they're prolly to scratched up to be read by now (gotta love younger siblings) but i didn't think ahead that they couldn't be read due the whole boot sector issue.. sooo will this be alternative or do the sm backups have to be patched too??

They could conflict with each other and not work
The only one that will work thou is the DVD version ESR will not play CD games they have to be converted to DVD

well its worth a try.. i'll post up if its successful for other people's peace of mind.. saw some people have the same problem.. tho people did get fmcb to get out of having to use SM.. hehe thanks a bunch guys

one more question... if I were to put the SWAPMAGIC.ELF in the apps folder could I launch it from there using FMCB?

I have tried it with a rip from my DVD it will launch but don't have any backups not patched just the opposite of you

So maybe you could answer the ? I have had will a none patch work by using an ELF of swapmagic

An "Swapmagic backup" is just a copied game disc. It's the same as those burned discs that one plays with a modchip'ed console.

Copying the Swapmagic ELF alone will not grant anyone the ability to boot burned games on an unmodified console.

I know no way to boot ELF without some exploit just wondering all my backups on disk have ESR patch on them so can not test
if running swapmagic elf will boot the game

coolios, well still have to install the damned thing on my ps2... I burnt a dvd+r with the FMCB disc boot thing from sksapps and tried it on a friends modchipped console screen went black then said on the top, this disc could not be read.. is there a certain disk make i have to do this with or did i have to do it with a CD-R/+R?
