    The point in mentioning the 'dash', is that the features anyone would want already do exist, or will shortly, via homebrew external of FMCB's boot method. In my opinion no features need be added to FMCB.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding

    As far as the speed increase goes, it's more a curiosity thing than a need. I only want it because I know it is possible. If I didn't know I wouldn't want it.

    I'm cleaning up the fmcb loader as i have some spare time and done some optimization to the config parser. I also plan to add a new config variable that lets you decide if you want your apps checked for availability at startup. If you set it to false it will mean less MC/USB accesses and maybe a bit faster booting.

    Actually the reason i'm doing this cleanup is to make space for some additional osd features that you will see when a new release comes out soon.

    Quite cool indeed!

    Hmm, I wonder what they'll be. I have been working on a FREEMCB.CNF that will use pretty much all the current rendering features of the OSD. I hope it's related.

    One of them will be OSD translation support that enables replacing all strings in the osdsys. The hard part is deciding how a config entry should look like. It will be something like this:

    OSDTrans = <'original string'><'new string'>

    There can be many lines like this (or zero), each specifying a different string. The single quotes must be included. So when the parser encounters <' or '> it will know where a string begins and ends.

    i would like to see hdd loading support, which i believe should be possible if all the irxs were external (sys-conf folder), and if using the 75k DVDPLx file the total used would be less than what we are currently using by having the apps on the mem card, plus for those like me that have a mem card for each member of the family it would mean that when new versions of homebrew come out it would be less painful to update, (currently i have to update 6+ memcards when wanting to update homebrew on them), so hdd supporrt would be much appreciated

    siincerely,

    I think it's been said before that the HDD modules are about 100KB packed there's no way it can fit with the splash screen, loaders, and everything else. Then use the 75KB DVDELF, hell, I'd have an easier time convincing an elephant to mount a rabbit.

    No-one ever said to include the IRXs in the KELF.
    Only the ELF-Loader-Subprogramms of the FMCB-Loader need support for it and they can use external IRXs (like it allready does for USB-Access).

    Iīm pretty sure that HD-Support is possible with external IRXs (but I didnīt tried it of course).

    Btw.: Are you sure about the packed size? It seems a bit big, but anyway... I believe you there.

    Btw.2: I found another post from me, where I posted about it, but that was not the one I meant.
    I guess, somewhere in GS-Mode-Selector-Thread is the post I mean(t).
